Just reading this thread has brought tears to my eyes.
Dan seemed like such a lovely, compassionate, humorous, wonderful guy.
Ami, too, seemed like an amazing girl.
I hope those who are affected by this are seeking support and help from those around them.
As others have said, there are many people on here who will be there for you, support you through this very difficult time, and we as a community are so strong, and all of us can get through this, Dan and Ami would have wanted us to carry on living, to do the things they no longer can do, to create happy and positive memories, to keep trying despite the negative things in our lives, as Dan was going to do for Ami, let's honor them by living for them, that's what they would have wanted for us all.
As Dan's sister said, let's remember the good memories, remember the good things about Dan's life, though he may not be here with us anymore, he is always forever in our hearts, minds, and souls.
For those who believe in an afterlife, he is still with us, in spirit, both of them are, and they are at peace and they are still here, rooting for all of us to keep trying and to keep moving forward in life, to do everything they'd want us to do, watching us and looking down on us, smiling and laughing, at peace.
Perhaps as was suggested, maybe do a thread for Dan, or have a special day in remembrance of him, it may even help those who are struggling to come to terms with this and who are struggling with this news.
To those who have been affected, no matter how big or small, grief is grief, it doesn't matter if you only knew Dan for many years or just 1 year, you are still allowed to grieve, and to be affected by this, so I hope no one feels bad or that they have no right to feel affected by this, you do have every right, even to those who didn't know Dan, it can still cause distress and upset.
Be gentle with yourselves everyone, and keep talking if it helps you, reach out, don't be alone, let yourself receive support and to have people help you through this difficult time.
R.I.P Dan, and Ami, too.
