So I just astral projected for the first time...
So I just my first Astral Projection experience.

I've been ****ing around with OBEs, meditation, new age goobledy gook, and astral project since I was sixteen. Lately I've been having a lot of depression and weird negative feelings from quitting drugs and having a generally lousy time of it. However, I realized today that for first time in many years my mind might be actually be clear enough to astral project. So I downloaded one of those guided meditations that's supposed to rocket you out of your body... and it worked...
I put on a special pair of noise canceling stereo quality headphones and settled into a bean bag chair. A symphony of odd frequencies and sounds begin to play as three different tracks of someone talking over the top of these frequencies played. The only thing I really remember is a voice in the headphones calmly but forcefully saying "Relax" at the exact point every time my conscious mind tried to rebel against what this meditation was doing to me. My body started shaking and vibrating and my heart started beating hard and breathing was difficult (not anymore so than usual, just I was much more conscious and worried about it)
The first couple times you try to astral project you have to deal with what can only be described as the fear and feeling of death. You can feel your body drifting away and you have to deal with the confrontation that your body is mortal and you have to give up control of it in order to escape it. I personally have never been able to let go or handle that feeling before, always jerking myself out of the meditation because I don't trust where it's going. However, having attempt this many times over the years and having the general opinion of "**** It!" I went with it.
Once I made the decision of "**** it!", I could actually feel the separation between my conscious mind and it's reality. I felt myself drifting away from it more and more and I could feel my mind drifting out. As I was beginning to leave I could still hear my mind doing it's usual calculations and thoughts. As I was leaving the mind behind me was thinking about hockey, movies, and clothing designs (the three things that are on my mind 99% of the time) I don't know if I can coherently describe this feeling enough. But the closest metaphor I can get too is my conscious mind and what everyone knows as "Bob" was a buoy tried down in the ocean while my spirit, the part of me that was projecting was a speed boat flying away while I was looking back and staring at the buoy.
All of a sudden, I realized I was out of my body.
I just had this sensation of racing up into the heavens, flying surround by stars going higher and higher. It was a lot like that scene in The Right Stuff or the end of 2001: A Space Odyessy, as cliche as that sounds. I remember thinking "This is too much!"
...And then I awoke, a couple hours later in the same position I started the meditation in with the headphones on having not moved in nearly six hours.
That was a ****ing trip to say the least...
