So the deal is, my period has been very messed up. Over 2 years ago I was on the depo shot for a year (I came off over 2 years ago though). I got back to normal, and back in the spring I was late...we thought I might be pregnant, I took a few tests, I had one semi positive test (the line was quite faint), and a negative test, so I had assumed I wasn't, and wrote it off as stress or something of that sort. A little while later, I started hurting really bad in my stomach, this went on for about 4 days before I eventually went to the doctor, when I got to the doctors office, it appeared that I had gotten my period, I told them exactly what had happened, about the my period being absent and the cramping and everything, they diagnosed me with a Urinary Track Infection, and since it was a Urgent Care Clinic, I was told that in order to confirm a miscarriage, I would have to go to the ER. I did not go to the ER and decided that if it didn't get better I woudl report back. I bled very heavily for about a day and a half, and cramped to the point of being confined to my bed curled up in a ball pretty much all I could do was go to the restroom, where I would discover very "clotty" blood. I am pretty sure what I experienced was a miscarriage.
Now my real question, since that happened, I have had only one period, which only last 3 days (mine usually last 5-6 days) and was farily light, but still I would classify it as a period. Before all of this took place I was back to normal from the shot (though it took about 6 months of me having a strait light period after I came off of it for it to get back to normal) I had to one period as I discribed and have since missed my next one (so I am really only one FULL period behind, though before the 'misscarriage' I hadn't had one in a couple of months). But anyways, my question is do you have any idea's as to why? I can't go to the doctor at this point because I do not have insurance, and am without a job, our family planning clinic costs as well. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests a couple of days after I missed my period (I took them on the same day) and both were fully negative, so Im not pregnant. Any ideas?
Thanks in Advance

The family planning clinic should charge on a sliding scale, which means that they only charge you what you can pay.
However, under some circumstances it can take a bit of time for your body to reset after something like that. It does sound like you may have had a miscarriage.
Are you currently taking any chemical birth control at all?

What you described when coming off the depo (the light periods) is a normal side effect of the depo, but that was long enough ago that it really has no playing in to what is going on now.
I can think of a couple of reasons for what is going on now, you could be pregnant again, stress, you could have left over tissues in your system that have given you an infection, your hormones could be all out of whack, or it could be something else entirely that i'm not thinking of.

Pregnant? I took tests and they were negative...I don't feel pregnant, I had kind ruled that out. But do you think I need to take another test?
Stress....now tht could be, I am living with my parents again and me and Andrew have been arguing like no other, add that to the nerves are starting college in the fall, and you have major stressage.
When I had my 'miscarriage' I was put on a pretty strong antibiotic for the UTI, could I still have an infection? And if so could it be really serious?
Is there anything I can take to get my hormones back 'into wack'? I never thought I would actually WANT my period, I have always had horrible cramping, its not so much I want my period, its just I want to know there is nothing wrong lol.
Thank you very very much for the time you have put into my thread :). I hope you yourself is doing well. You can PM me at anytime as well :P

I don't think that you could still have a UTI, but if there is any tissue left in you from your potential misscarriage then it could be causing a second infection.
The only thing I can think of that could get your hormones back into whack is if you went on the pill, beucase that would regulate exactally when you have your period. I mean the normal monthly pill to, not depo, the one where you only have 4 periods a year.
You should speak with someone at a family planning clinic or an OB/GYN about your options. They may also want to do a blood test, I think things like anemia can also cause whacky periods.

As soon as I get a spare minute I will *try* to make and appointment at my family planning clinic. Maybe to at least go on the shot for a bit. Thanks for all your help!

hey there are several reasons that your period is late. You could be pregnant again since the body is quite fertile right after a miscarriage, you could have tissue still left inside causing an infection, as mentioned before, if this is so you need to see a doctor as soon as possible since if tissue was left the infection could kill you, as for the 2 pregnancy test you took they may have been taken to early for it to pick up the hormone made during pregnancy, so you take other one, if it is still negative then try to see a doctor and make sure all is ofter your miscarriage. The whole thing behind seeing a dr after a miscarriage is because a d&c is done, a procedure where the uterus is scraped clean, to make sure no tissue is left to cause an infection. Also do you want a baby right now? If not then birth control is the best thing. If you do not want to go back on Depo, there are multiple types of birthcontrol pills you can take, or a patch, or ring. Anyway i hope everything is ok. please let us know ok.
can i point out that a false positive pregnancy test is really rare. false negatives are much more common due to levels of hormones. the majority of 'false' positives are actually correct at time of taking, it takes a few days for the pregnancy hormone to disappear after an early miscarriage.
