For so long I've been just coasting day by day, not really thinking about anything but the day as it comes. Turning 20 I realised that If I continue this way I might end up regretting just coasting along further down the line. That and I think this is partly causing my depression. I think that moving forward and taking a step towards a career of some sort might be a positive move.
I'm not really that far into working stuff out, I just have thought about two things of yet. I have thought about the possible pros and cons for both coices so far.
When I left school I wanted to be a photographer in the RAF. I looked into it a bit, and was really interested. I'm not sure why It didn't go any further.
Pros- Would fit my liking of the nomadic lifestyle.
- may be a chance to see the world?
- could learn valuble skills
- wouldnt be leaving that much behind
- might be able to do other courses whilst in the RAF
- My brother is in the army so I could ask him what forces life is like (I only really know that he loves it)
- could get myself out of the debt I'm in a bit quicker
cons- Not sure how they'd view my self harm or previous problems (apart from one incident a few days ago have been free for a year with 2 slip ups)
- Don't know that much about the lifestyle
- I'd lose my flat
For a long time I've wanted to be a counsellor.
pros- could do other courses too
- could make friends on the course
- helping people always helps me to feel better about myself
- I could learn techniques that help me.
cons- I'd have to put myself in more debt to pay for it
- I might find some of the subjects tough
- I might not be able to complete the course
I really don't know what to do for the best. I'm going to look more into the details and ask people (like my brother). I think that if I continue to just float about, the depression is gonna get me under again.
Even after all this I still don't know what to do. As it says in the title, any advice would be very much appeciated.
sorry its so long x
