Okay, what you can do is find out who the funding comissioner is. With the help of someone you trust, write them a letter outlining the treatment you need and what may happen if you do not receive the treatment. Don't say anything which could be consituted as black mail, such as "If I do not receive CAT I will kill myself" but factually, "I believe CAT will be really beneficial for me to effectively deal with my self harm and the underlying issues. If I do not get this therapy, which my psychiatrist agrees I need, my depression may worsen and as a result my self harming could get more intense and I may require an emergency admission to hospital. From my understanding, a planned course of CAT now will cost less in the long run than future emergency admissions should I not receive the treatment."
Also, it's worth getting in touch with PALs. And you can also get a solicitor to help you fight for funding. You can get legal aid to cover the costs.

you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.
Holly was referre to SLAMs national divisions sh out patient service unit by Marcea (my old care worker). holly attended for an asessment last week. we concluded that Holly would be very suitable for cognitive analytic thereapy(duration between 16-24 sessions, depending on the progress made)within our service.
as you will be aware, in order to progress treatment, my service needs to have a contract for treatment approved by your pct. unfortunately our application for such a treatment contract has been rejected by your pct. this is not entirely unusual, although it will delay the startof Holly's treatment. my administrator A.M will be reapplying for a contract and will be chasing progress on a weekly basis. however, in order to speed up the process, we have sometimes found that it is necessary to encourage referrers to chase the funding situation with their pct in order to get the patient treatment
i thought it would be wise to make you aware of this at an early stage to let you know that we are very happy to support you with this process in terms of supplying relevant information about the service. please ring A.M if you need further clarification about the process.
we very much look forward to working with you and Holly once pct funding has been approved
with best wishes bla bla bla paul moran.
this was sent ot my current care worker who i will be seeing on wed so i can see what she says
xx

I can't believe they denied you the treatment you need! I agree whole-heartedly with Control, that you ought to send them a letter if your care worker seems to not be getting anywhere.
*huggles* Hope things start to move for you x

I have a SI awareness and a haematite and white bead bracelet from the RYL shop, and I love them!
the biggest thing is not to give up on it, tempting as it probably is to get upset and give up, that is what the pct want you to do, so you gotta keep fighting.
as control freak says, you need to petition the funding comissioner, get signed statements from everybody you can: friends, family, as many professionals as possible.
if you are using NHS services, then you may be able to suggest to the pct that paying for this now will save them money in the long term.
if you can get a solicitor (preferably a mental health specific one) then that can be a big help, but i suspect that might not be possible if you are working and not claiming benefits. some sort of advocacy worker should be available; there should be one connected to your local psych department, or you could ask local mental health charities such as mind.
something a friend's mother did was to contact their local MP and get him onside, and said it really helped to have a big name supporting her.
its a ****ing catch 22 that a lot of people with mental health problems are inhibited against speaking out due to the nature of the problems they need help with, so having someone else to help you with this is invaluable.
whatever you do, keep on and on at them. the phrase 'the squeekiest wheel gets the oil is often used for situations like this, so you just gotta squeek and squeek til they agree.
it sounds like SLAMs is going to keep on at them too, which is great.
as your letter implied; you arn't the first person to have this **** pulled on them, and people struggle with this far too often. i have learned from discussions with other service users and with professionals, and from experience that this doesn't have to be the end of the road, just the start of the fight.
***wishing you extra strength to keep on until you get the right result***
"Thinking is the most unhealthy thing in the world"
thanks guys, hopefully i wont have to do the fighting and SLAM and the cmht will. im going on holiday in a wk so at least i wont have to think about it then!
just another one of those things where you think cant anything go smoothly just for once....obviously not!! x

When I was waiting for my pct funding to come through it was taking ages so the commissioner told me to write outlining why I needed the therapy. I think it helps them to hear from you so long as you explain it properly and show it is worth it to them in the long term.
I really hope you get the funding x

I am a bit confused though, you are under SLAM? And the CAT is run by SLAM? So they are denying funding for one of their own services?
-i am under Bromley Primary care trust(pct) and seeing the cmht there, there referred me to SLAM where i had my assessment last tue week, and they said they wanted to do CAT but bromley pct have to fund it, which they applied for but bromley refused! nasty ppl!!!

My advice still stands ^^, writing a letter is always helpful I've found (my Dad wrote a letter to my funding comissioner when I needed funding for the crisis recovery unit with SLAM).

Sorry to hear your cpn is leaving, will you be transferred to someone else?
"Because you don't notice the light without a bit of shadow. Everything has both dark and light. You have to play with it until you get it exactly right."
she said i can phone them and ask if i have been allocated a care worker but she said i may not need to come back there if i under the maudsley care. who knows, noone seems to explain this to me hey im only the patient!!!
tbh i not too bothered about not seeing wendy anymore cos i wasnt overly fussed about seeing her unlike when i was seeing marcea who i really liked talking too and was like talking to a friend, where as wendy it was a bit more awkward.
i'm really pleased that i should be getting the therapy cos i really do need it, i want to get on with my life and be able to be happy or at least try!!!
i want to get the appt before i go on holiday so i dont have to think about it anymore so got 3 more post days to seee...fingers crossed, will let you know when i know anymore xxx

Hey im sorry the PCT did this to you but i really do hope that you will get confirmation that you now do have the funding.
i think it will be really good for you and you sound so enthusiastic to make this work and so thats really got to be a great positive in your favour too!
Well done.
And i really hope you hear something soon!i
m sorry you have had to change careworkers so much recently.
That also unsettles me so much when that happens too.
i know that it can be really difficult.
Also hope that you enjoy the holiday!
Take care.
i do not always manage to be around but i wish you all the very best - love and luck to you all!
