Adding abbreviations to forum names

Hey Everyone

The CT is working on making some changes to RYL to make things cleaner and more user friendly and one of the things we want to do is put the forum abbreviations in the title/description of the forum name. The goal of this is to make it easier for people understand the abbreviations and to reduce any confusion new members may have. This way there will also be one set abbreviation for all forums.

We would like to get the opinion of everyone to see which format is liked the best. There are 3 different ideas, please vote for the one you like the best :)

Thanks,
The CT

Option 1 - Abbreviation at the beginning of the title.
Quote:
(SD) Serious Discussion (4 Viewing)
For more serious issues, graphic threads and posts that don't fit elsewhere. This Forum could trigger, so please take care.

Option 2
- Abbreviation at the end of the title.
Quote:
Serious Discussion (SD) (4 Viewing)

Option 3
- Abbreviation is included at the end of the forum description.

And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

I plumped for option 3, because the first one looks daft and the second one looks more like a trigger warning.

Option 1 is way too distracting and confusing. Option 3 looks messy and is inefficient, and uses a lot of space for something that could be covered by 4 characters by putting it elsewhere.

I like number 2 the best because that is the standard for how abbreviations are written all over, not just RYL. When reading a book or publication that has an abbreviation the abbreviation is always presented immediately after the line it is abbreviating.

Thus number 2 is the only acceptable choice :D

4 characters, 5 if you include the space.

You copy what I say and don't put me in the [quote=Josh, the amazing Team Leader!]? How could you! *sulks*

If option 1 or 2 are put in place, I might just shoot myself.

Sorry, x

But why? Option 2 is a standard for abbreviations everywhere.

I just think it looks like SI and there's no real need for the abbreviation to be shown, is there?

Looks like SI how?

SD isn't the only forum that would get this, they all would. So it would look like

First Aid Advice (FAA)
Veteran's General (VG)
Eating Disorders (ED)

and so on and so forth.

It's just scrolling down and if passing by it it looks like SI. Probably just my mind. I don't think there's any need for the abbreviations after the forum title, it looks a bit untidy and not very easy on my eyes.

I think of all of them option 2 looks pretty tidy, or at the very least doesn't make it look any less tidy than it looks already.

I think that these are totally necessary, all the time I use a forum name abbreviation and someone goes "huh? what?" and not just new members, members that have been around for a while.
