Maybe go for a light colour on the walls, but black accessories and perhaps one black wall if you're room's big enough? I say that because if it's small, the black will make it look 10x smaller.
I have white walls at the moment, with a black carpet and black blinds.
Be careful if you go for black carpet though, as you'll have to clean it very regularly.
Why not have 3 walls in a muted colour and then one wall really bright?
That's what my old room was like, 3 walls white, one wall bright red. It looks really striking.
my rooms realllyy small and lacks wall space, so may not work, however, i shall discuss it with the father!
i was thinking someting like bright orange, my mates sister had that and it was like :O!
and :P clairy fairy, that's awesome!
if my room wasn't such a bomb site i'd post pics so you could see it's current state

The Mole was bewitched, entranced, fascinated. By the side of the river he trotted as one trots, when very small, by the side of a man who holds one spell-bound by exciting stories; and when tired at last, he sat on the bank, while the river still chattered on to him, a babbling procession of the best stories in the world, sent from the heart of the earth to be told at last to the insatiable sea.
