Triggering (ED) - mirtazapine
Can anyone tell me about mirtazapine?
I already take Sertraline 200mg a day as well as Zopiclone but because my mood gets really bad in winter (it has already started!) the psychiatrist has given me the possibility to take mirtazapine as well, at the lowest dose.
I am very worried about the side effects or rather about the weight gain. In fact i am terrified about it.
So much so that I do not want to take it but I am so scared of winter and the depression it brings.
I am not sure what to do.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Amelie

I've never gained weight on mirtazapine, and I've been on it 3 years now.
I find it a really good med.
People tend to either love it or hate it. It works for me.
I'm on 30mg.
I also take low dose zopiclone from time to time.

The smaller the dosage of Mirtazapine the more of a drowsy affect it will have on you. If they start you off on 15mg (which they probably would do) be sure not to take it untill just before you want to fall asleep. Hope that helps ^_^

I found Mirtazapine to be the best anti-depressent I ever took. IT has a sedating effect, I used to take it in the evening and it did give me quite an appetite but I think you should give it a try before you right it off. It won't be the same with everyone.

I'm on 30mg. When I started taking the lowest dose (15mg) it just made me tired more than anything, but it really helped with my depression.
I did gain weight, but I was in hospital too at the time so wasn't active at all and was eating out of boredom really.
As with any drug, you won't take it and it instantly adds 5lbs, all it will do is increase your appetite, you still have the choice over what you eat and how much exercise you do.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.
