that's good! (in my opinion). complex needs services are designed to help people who have complex emotional and behavioural difficulties - perhaps people who have a hard time engaging in treatment because of their past or because they get very angry or use destructive ways of coping/expressing their needs. that's my rather limited understanding anyway. it is sometimes complex needs and personality disorder service - i'm not saying you have PD, but the two are sort of linked. anyway if it's a specialist complex needs service you're going to, they're really geared up to helping people with this sort of problem - beyond the old medication and CBT route. i spent a year with complex needs services. hope this opinion is helpful. xxx

is it a complex needs service specifically you're being referred to? i'm not entirely sure what they do, but they will assess you and try to find suitable treatment. the one i went to had outpatient, day and residential units for people with complex needs/PD. some areas just have day and outpatient. some have a specific outreach service for the problems. some have antenatal mental health units (i think that's right?!) or services for people with learning difficulties or sight/hearing problems. some offer psychotherapy services, which are great.

there isn't actually a service like this near where i live, which is a bit rubbish. and to be honest this info is a bit of a stab in the dark and could be wrong, because when i was in complex needs, it was just in the residential unit down in birmingham for a year. but i was aware they had stuff like psychotherapy services, day services, ED services, outreach and stuff like that down there, i just was never part of them.

i'm rambling and probably totally wrong. sorry.

Im being put on complex needs and PD service if I keep failing as badly as I am right now. I think there is one more "last resort" type thing then its that, but I dont want to do it. However sammi, if I do I'll let you know what its like

The best thing to do would be ask them directly, as they know what's going on with you and we don't!
