Trying to stop and i've been 12days and its like ooh should be proud but i'm not. Cos i've not cut and yes the scars are healing but i'm still scratching or biting or punching or hitting my head when it gets too much. My parents dont know and dont question why i'm biting my fingers or that but even tho it is to stop me cutting it is to feel the pain.
I know that i'm gonna slip, and its just a question of when realli. And i'm realli annoyed that even though its 12days cut free its not SI free. Suppose i should just stop kidding myself that i'm beating this. Sorry i dunno just need a hug.
I know exactly how you're feeling! Im the same place as you know. I was so proud of myself for not cutting the last 14 days, but I was just fooling myself cause I was using other forms of SI.
But I think you should give yourself a little more credit, cause even though you havent been able to be SI-free, you have been able to stop cutting for 14 days, and that's definitely a good start :)
Please dont give up, slip-ups is natural...I was thinking about this song when I read your post, it has helped me through some rough times soo...Take care xx
Don't give up, it takes a while
I have seen this look before
And it's alright
You're not alone
If you don't love this anymore
I hear that you've slipped again
I'm here 'cause i know you'll need a friend
And you know that accidents can happen
And it's okay,
We all fall off the wagon sometimes
It's not your whole life
It's only one day
You haven't thrown everything away.
Take some time and learn to breathe
And remember what it means
To feel alive
And to believe
Something more than what you see
I know there's a price for this
But some things in life you must resist
And you know that accidents can happen
And it's okay,
We all fall off the wagon sometimes
It's not your whole life
It's only one day
You haven't thrown everything away.
I hear that you've slipped again
I'm here 'cause i know you'll need a friend
And you know that accidents can happen
And it's okay,
We all fall off the wagon sometimes
It's not your whole life
It's only one day
You haven't thrown everything away.
You know that accidents can happen
And it's okay,
We all fall off the wagon sometimes
It's not your whole life
It's only one day
You haven't thrown everything away.
Heyyy, hope you're doing alright! .. I can relate to this, when I have slip ups and try to stop again, I go through periods where I'll dig my nails into my skin pretty deep instead of cutting. Eventually I stopped that, too.
This round of slip ups I took myself to the guidance counsellor at school (under threat from friends..) ... she actually gave me a good idea that I will pass onto you, lol.
If you have a certain place where you keep the things you use for self harm, make a list and put it there. A list of phone numbers you can call or text when you feel like hurting yourself, people you can email, IM, etc ... , other things you can do instead of si (go for a walk, punch .. pillows.., listen to tunes really loud, play an instrument, write in a notebook, etc) ... and instead of going for what you used to hurt yourself, grab the list instead and do something written on it.
Feel free to PM me if you want! :)
Holding your head up is hard when you just want to stay on the ground.
Hey *Gives you a big hug* Im sorry that your struggling. I know its really tough, but you can get through this. You really shouldnt be so hard on yourself. 12 days free is excellent!! Even if its not si free. Its still an achievement. Slipping up is part of recovery, we all have slip ups, but it doesnt mean that you have failed or that your back to square one. We all heve times when we are not feeling so good. Take things in small steps a day at a time. I hope that things get easier for you soon and that you feel better soon. Do you have any support at all? Is there anyone close to you that you could talk to? Here is a link to the distractions section to help keep your mind occupied and keep you distracted http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum...splay.php?f=22 We are all here for you. Dont give up you can get through this. Stay strong.
not cutting for 12 days is an awesome start! that's incredible, and you should feel really proud. just because you are SIing in other ways doesn't mean you're a failure :) it's perfectly normal and hopefully as time goes on, you'll be able to give up SIing altogether. good luck and take care xxx
