I've been ice skating a billion times because, well, I'm in Canada and that's what we do.
It's fun but it's difficult! The first time each winter when I put on skates it's terrifying, I swear I'd kill someone with one false move. If you don't fall on your head, though, I'm pretty sure you'll survive.
Also: it's worth investing some time to learn how to stop. That's the tricky part.

I go every week, I have a pair of figures but I really want some speeds like those ones in the above sig *drools* my friend that I go with is going away for a month so I might invest in a pair then because I need something to do and they are meant to be totally different to skate in.

You have good taste =p They're a picture of my skates. I've skated in figures as well and yeah both are very different.I doubt I could skate in figure skates again.
Also if you're investing in some mine weren't that expensive; I think £40 or so?
I only go like twice a year?
Coz the only time we have a rink now is when holiday on ice come to town.
I absolutely love it!
And I'm pretty good (if I say so myself) considering I hardly ever go.

I actually work as an ice marshall so I get to skate for free which is handy as I play ice hockey (Y)
You gots to kinda start off slow.. and don't be too surprised if your feet get shredded by hire skates.
I have never used figure skates but I would think it would be rather hard with the pointy bits on the front as I'm used to my Hockey skates.

I like in-line skating but will do ice when at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. My main rule is its generally better to fall forward and not backwards so a slight bend of knee and weight forward will protect the coccyx (butt bone) and back of head.

You play ice hockey?! **** yeah! I used to play but had to quit due to a knee injury but i'm thinking of playing again as soon as i get money for a new kit. CANNOT WAIT.
Vector 4's look like awesome skates. I don't think i could skate in anything but CCMs. I'm just used to them and I love them. The ones in my sig are mine; 92 Tacks.
