Prologue

Eric looked on in horror as the blood poured down before his eyes. His body ached all over and the pain seemed to be never ending. He was aware of the voices around him but couldn't understand what was being said. He couldn't move legs and knew they were bound to together. His back was against something hard and his arms were stretched out as far as they could bound to the same hard substance as his back and legs. He could tell by the way that his arms and legs were shaped that he was tied up in a crucifix form and that the hard thing behind him was wood in that same shape. He began to scream fear consuming him a knife flashed before his eyes and then a pale white face. The face belonged to a teenage boy who was grinning at him happily almost sadistically. He was chanting something but it was hard to follow and Eric was too tired and beaten to understand English never mind a different language. He lowered his head shamefully but also as a way of escaping and thinking of his baby girl and his beloved wife. He smiled softly at the thought of his beautiful little Aurora who was twelve years old and had bouncy black curls that stopped at her shoulder blades and bright green eyes the colour of emeralds. She was a beautiful young girl and he loved her more than anything he had named her and been the second to hold her his wife obviously being the first. She was always interested of his work and wanted to come along but he had said no and now he was glad he had been so strict. If he hadn't it would be her up here instead of him and he would have been made to watch just like he had been made to watch another little girl die in the same fashion he would and he would never find out why. All he had for comfort before the knife was driven into his chest was the connection he had with his little girl the connection he prayed would never be broken for he loved his daughter more than anyone. And as he took his last few breaths blood red eyes stared into his and a voice echoed through his head a voice which wasn't spoken - but did not belong to his thoughts - whispered:
"You will pay for having that connection and your family will pay and you will suffer more than you have,"
And with those words uttered Eric Oxfored closed his eyes and his soul entered a fiery hell in which he didn't belong.

Chapter one: Aurora

There was a horrible crash of glass and the sound of a young girls screaming. Mark and Amy jolted awake sharing a knowing look before jumping out of bed and heading towards the sound of the crash. A young girl stood in the hallway eyes fixed on the broken bits of mirror the knuckles on both her hands dripping with blood one having a piece of glass sticking out of it. The couple walked towards the girl slowly trying to make as little noise as possible so as not to scare the child. Her name was Aurora and she had been sleep walking for four years since her father died. She stood in amongst the broken glass her hands entangled in her long hair her bright green eyes clouded with sleep. Mark took hold of her arms gently and shook her just as gently.
"Aurora wake up sweetheart," he whispered softly, Aurora's eyes snapped in his direction and she began to scream lashing out at his arms with her blooded hands and kicking at his ankles with her bare feet. She was crying and sobbing shouting something in a gibberish form of English and some other language they didn't know was real or not. Mark backed away quickly his arms covered in Aurora's blood. Amy took a hold of the situation and ran into the living room and began to play the piano playing Aurora's favourite song Fields of Gold. Aurora swayed on her heels in the hall and walked over the broken glass to the piano with perfect provision. She walked straight to the piano and sat in the seat Amy stopped and let Aurora take over. She played the first few bars before falling back into Marks open arms sound asleep again. Mark looked at Amy the same worried way while he stood up straight Aurora cuddled to his chest.
"She's been doing this since Eric died studying that stupid urban legend," he said, his eyebrows knitted together in frustration.
"To him and Aurora it wasn't stupid you know she believes in it," Amy said softly, she still loved her ex husband but she had moved on for the sake of Aurora and herself. She stared at her daughter who was now sleeping happily oblivious to anything that was going on around her.
"She could have been seriously hurt Amy we have to take her to a professional," Mark said, Amy shook her head sternly she wasn't going to make Aurora feel like a freak for something she had no control over. Aurora went to an expensive private school and none of the other children there ever had any problems sleeping except her.
"She's fine it’s just a faze she's going through you know how close she was to her father," she said in Aurora's defence. Mark nodded sceptically before returning Aurora to her bed.
