Calling all mental health nurses..

I hope this is ok to post here.

When someone is sectioned in hospital, what, aside from patient presentation and behaviour etc helps a person leave hospital quicker?

I know it depends on the person but is there any way to refer someone for community treatment for example?

So Cmht referrals? As I feel like they should be doing far more for me than me just sitting around doing nothing.

Thats honestly how it feels.

All I need is support getting home i.e taxi booking for me and that's it.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place...

There are a few people with qualifications on here but we’re mostly ordinary people with lived experience of distress and self harm :)

Could you ask the staff what your discharge plans are and how close you are to that?

Also since the questions you are asking relate to your original thread it would probably help people to reply comprehensively if all the questions were kept to one thread in the board.

I’m afraid I have no advice other than to find out what’s being done for you behind the scenes.

Maybe you're right, how do I find out who my care coordinator is? Thanks for your response

You can ask the nursing staff. Generally (although this may not be the case if you are admitted to a bed out of your NHS Trust), all MH services share the same note system. They should be able to tell you whether you have been allocated a care co-ordinater in the CMHT/CMHRS (same team just different acronym depending on area). You care coordinator may not be a nurse, it could be an OT or a SW or occasionally a psychologist. They will generally not be that involved whilst you are an inpatient.

Do you have a named nurse on the ward? If so, it would probably be worth asking for a meeting with them to sit and go through your care plan etc. You can have an advocate or someone with you for this, if you’d like to.

In terms of ‘getting out quicker’. The main factors in discharge are presentation of the patient and behaviour, like you mentioned and risk. Things that may delay discharge would be a care package or housing not being in place or community support needing to be organised. This is all information that should be in your care plan though :)

Informal section I want

How do people be put on informal section? I've not harmed myself or others the past few months nor at all ever, I once harmed myself when I was 13.

Yet I'm on section 3. I don't understand it. The whole ward is on informal (without revealing location obviously).

It's not fair.

I notice you have asked similar questions to this in the past.

To be honest this is something that you need to discuss with your team.
