Has anyone ever joined their local Recovery College or a Recovery Partners group?

Hi

It has been suggested by my Psychiatrist that I join the local mental health Recovery College and do some activities with them. Apparently most of the activities are currently online. The Psychiatrist also said she is going to refer me to the local Recovery Partners group. Apparently the Recovery Partners Group is a way to give and receive peer support and the group also provide feedback to mental health services.

Has anyone ever joined a local mental health Recovery College or been part of a Recovery Partners group? If so how did you find it? Did you find it useful?

Many thanks for any assistance.

i do not always manage to be around but i wish you all the very best - love and luck to you all!

I have never been to a recovery college, I have done lots of peer support and social clubs, however these didn't work out in my local area and I wasn't prepared to go to my local adult community college if I hated the place previously when i went for guitar lessons, gcse law class and other expensive but not worth the money pleasure courses, meeting the same people from previous courses and groups. Hardly interesting, pass me the remote for endless flog it bargain hunt. Plus at the time, my mental health wasn't great and i found everything rather tiring and my motivation to turn up suffered.

Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60's. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. I tried groups, didn't work out just made my depression a lot worse.
