Combating the sedative effects of new meds?

I've been prescribed 150mg of lamotrigine, but from reading most people start on 25mg and work up over 4 weeks.

It's for bipolar I mania/agitation.
Last night was my first dose and I am totally floored! I'm drinking coffee and just got a cool shower and I am just flopped! I'm thinking of not taking the full dose tonight, I'm prescribed 100mg at night and 50mg in the morning.

How can I wake up?!

I am currently:

Unfortunately caffeine is about the only substance to help with that, the other thing I can recommend is making your sleep schedule very strict. It will take about a week, but your body will learn what time is for rest and when to be awake. I'm currently on the same dose and find this to be a good way to manage. I'd talk to your doctor to see if you could wean yourself up to that dose, as your body hasn't had proper time to adjust to the new chemicals, but I would definitely call and ask about it before you drop the dose. It can be dangerous to make those choices without informing them.
As for the showers, a hot shower helps release toxins from your body and may actually help more than the cold shower. That's just an idea though.

Hope this helps!

It's. Just left my system and I feel like an alarm clock bell has gone off in my body! I've tried to cut the 100mg tablet but it crumbled so I've taken roughly 1/4

I'm supposed to be taking them in the morning and evening. And "wait it out" is easier said than done when I have a 5 year old and 2 year old and it's Christmas!
