You're being really brave doing this. Your right it will be tough but I also think you can do it. I am glad that you will have the support of your girlfriend. What about also planning something nice for afterwards to help take your mind off it? Also it might help to put together a box of things that could help soothe you or ground you if you find you get distressed, you could fill it with tactile things like (a a shell/rock, fabric, a soft teddy), some reminder cards with some words of comfort (I'm okay, I'm safe), some nice smelling things etc. Good luck
