Graphic - how do you make the nightmares stop?

Ok I'm sorry if this is maybe upsetting. . But it's torturing me. I need to get it off my chest. I've had this nightmare for a long. . Long time. The same exact one, I just was hoping if I told it to y'all maybe it would help.

I'm in the mountains, it's my favorite spot where I went camping with my dad when I was little. It's night time and it's a little cold. I'm on my knees, the ground is wet because I can feel my pant legs getting soaked by dew. There's a fire to my left because I can see the glow on the trees around me..about ten feet away there's a man, I can't make out his features.. But he's hurting this woman. .(This is the weirdest part) I've never seen her in real life, but when I see her in my dream I know in the dream I love her more than anything. . I've had the dream so long I can describe her completely. I don't know if my mind pieced together this person to represent my ideal mate or if maybe it's like she's real and I just haven't met her yet (spookier things happen) anyway, this man is hurting her, and every time I lunge to help her this man behind me pulls me back and stabs me, I know what it feels like from before. . But every time he stabs me I feel the pain and I see the look of fear in the woman's eyes, not for her but for me, then as I'm fading I see the man hurt her for the last time. . Then I wake up terrified. .I just want this dream to stop :'( does anyone know how to stop having repetitive dreams??

I am currently:

i also have a repetitive dream, which is to long and complicated to explain, and i have tried many different things to rid myself of it. The only thing i have going for me is that I only get this dream when i have a fever. I do however have nightmares quiet a bit.
I have noticed that falling asleep to a movie you find comforting (or something you've seen a bunch of times) or playing classical music tends to work. I also try to wear a eye mask while listening to the music so that i don't get distracted, but then i feel a little to "hollywood".
This seems to work for me with my nightmares and i really hope that it works for you.
