Wound Care Question - When do you need stitches for cuts?

I've relapsed for the first time in 10 and a half weeks… My cuts are quite bad and deep in comparison to the past. Although i'm not sure whether they need stitches of some kind (like steri-strips, not majorly deep for actual stitches, although never had any)

How do you judge what is needed?

I usually just put dressings over the top and allow to heal, although i've cut this deep a couple of times in the past and have bad Hypertrophic scars which are quite problematic and I suffer a great deal of pain and swelling.

What should I do?

Always best to play it safe and get it checked out by a doctor/nurse!

I wouldn't be allowed to say things relating to depth or wideness, but do check out the guidance here, as contains a description of wounds which require intervention.

Take care.

I agree with Mike, always best to be on the safe side. If the would is deep it really needs looking at & the health care professional looking at it will decide what course of action to take.

If previous cuts around this depth have led to you having pain and bad scarring, that's a pretty good indicator you need to get them closed!
