Bold, intimate and thought-provoking, this documentary explores what life is really like living with a mental health disorder. Using handheld cameras to film themselves over six months, 25 young people take us with them on a journey as they navigate the rocky road of growing up with mental health issues.
Told from their own unique perspective, they show us the everyday challenges of relationships, education, work and uncomprehending parents, along with the stigma they face along the way.
Highlighting a broad spectrum of mental health disorders - from multiple personalities to agoraphobia, anorexia to bipolar - this is their story in their own words.
This looks very interesting. If you search Diaries of a Broken Mind on youtube you can see the trailer. I am interested in seeing what they show about Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Oooooh NEXT Wednesday. That would explain why it's not on BBC i-player already. I know a girl on this, but she hasn't disclosed much information. It's a shame I'm not in the country next week - I hope it's still on i-player when I get back!
Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world awaits in darkness for the light that is you.
“The only way that we can live is if we grow. The only way we can grow is if we change. The only way we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we are exposed is if we throw ourselves into the open.”
I saw this advertised somewhere as in they wanted participants so it will be interesting to see the finished product!

Thank you for clarifying what will be covered. Although I saw the youtube video and the advert on tv, I couldn't quite clarify what was being covered. One seemed to be D.I.D I could make out.
Ah! Thank you for posting about this, sherlock holmes! I forgot about it D: *goes to TV schedual and bookmarks it incase I forget again*

i can't wait to watch it its definitely on my to do list
Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60's. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. I tried groups, didn't work out just made my depression a lot worse.
It's a shame the title was changed from "Minds Like Ours" which was far better in my opinion.
Given that this was filmed by the participants themselves, I think it will be quite interesting to watch, perhaps moreso than the other programmes in the series.
Probably goes without saying that it could be triggering for people.
I've dedicated the past year of my life to breaking down stigma by talking about how I feel so I wanted to do that with this as well.

It goes to show, that no matter how bad things get for me, there is still always one thing which brings me happiness. I must cling to this for it is the making of me, the beginning of my resurgance and the fightback epitomised. I will defeat my demons.

^^ Keep going with breaking down the stigma and it would take courage to appear in a documentary especially concerning mental health, well done. I am looking forward to seeing it.
Changing the name though. I agree, Minds Like Ours sounds much better but I suppose to draw more people in they wanted a title with a little more impact. I don't mean that offensively.
