Ideas for a Physical memento of my progress
I'm attempting to stop harming for the second time this month. I've been "clean" for 12 days now and was thinking about making/getting something that I can carry around with me that marks my progress, Kind of like those tokens/chips that the AA give out for recovering alcoholics and such. Any ideas for something I could make/buy that would have certain periods of time written on them? I was thinking about just writing the number of days on a piece of paper but it doesn't seem meaningful enough.
Am I making sense to anyone? (It's 2am and I'm shattered)

Hi,
How about doing a string of origami cranes? Maybe do different colours, white for a self harm free day and orange for a day that you struggle? That way you can keep the chain going and you can see your progress over time?
Here is a website that tells you how to make them:
http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-crane.html
Hope this helps

You could get a plectrum? Like one of the weird ones...or maybe start a charm bracelet....

it wouldn't really be something you could carry with you, but one thing i've heard about is making a paper chain using strips of colored paper for days without harming and white links for days where you slip... it kinda helps as a reminder that it is a process...

this is my magical medicine cabinet. Left to right they contain: courage, hope, calmness, and strength.
The magical part: They NEVER run out, so borrow some any time you want.
PM me anytime, I love getting messages :)

Plectrums are small enough to carry in my pocket and I'm learning (kind of) to play the guitar so that would kind of go along with that but I'd need to get a plectrum maker. I'll look into that. Thanks :D

Plectrum makers are awesome! :)
I also like the idea of a bracelet, every day free, you get to put a new bead on :)
OR
if you're into this sort of thing, make a patchwork quilt? Every week (or so) is a new patch, and it can act as a big distraction then aswell?

hi, i really like the thought on that. i'm tring to stop selfharming too.
maybe a chain around your neck where you could add a charm every however may days or weeks you go si free?
or maybe do a chart on paper and put smile on days si free and a sad face on the days where you slip, you could carry that around with you an do it a month at a time an then when that month is over you could put it in a file an you could look back over the year then an see your progress.

Other idea may be a painted stone. I've been painting rocks recently and it's really therapeutic in itself!

I do have a piece of paper for the past two months (I'm still clean! 27 days now!) but seeing the days where I slipped kind of gives me a bad feeling. I like the idea of a necklace, I just have to find some cheap beads. Thanks :D

Been to Ullapool in the North of Scotland recently? I was there last week and there were painted rocks left to dry everywhere. Was that you by any chance?
I'm not really much of a painter, I'm in no way neat
