So I had a multi disciplinary meeting today and one of the things that came out of it was they are going to refer me to a group therapy called Fifteen in Manchester that is for people with personality disorders. Just wondering if anyone here has been to that group, or anyone been to group therapy specifically for people with personality disorders and could tell me what it is like. Thanks.

I've never been to that particular group but last year I went to BPD group therapy. Unfortunately it didn't help me, but a lot of the people did find it useful. I would definitely give it a good go, you've gotta try these options when they are offered to you, you never know it may really help you.
Did you have any specific questions you wanted to ask about it?

yeah I thought I should grab the opportunity while I have it and I've never tried a group before.
I guess I want to know what you actually do there. Is it like group discussions about how your personality disorder affects you. do you each sort of get a chance to speak and does a professional lead it, or is it patients led.

It's okay I haven't been to that specific thing but I have been to the place for CAT and the staff have always seemed really nice apart from one person who I really didn't like.
You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.
I don't know if every group has the same structure or what but mine went like this;
# Check in - how you feel at the start of the session.
# How the week has gone - positives and negative, how you've dealt with them.
# 15 minute break.
# What happening next week - positive and negatives, how you plan to deal with them.
# Summary of the session.
# Check out - how you feel at the end of the session, crisis plans made if necessary.
Mine was service user led so if people were having problems the group members would help and support/advise if necessary. But there were always two CPN's from the CMHT there to supervise and help out aswell. In my group we had up to a max of 10 people but normally only about 5 turned up, both males and females, ranging in age from 19 to about 40 something.

Just suddenly had a thought, which i should have probably mentioned in the meeting today, but I've only just thought about it.
Can you go to group therapy and still be under the CMHT, I'm in the process of the doctors at the meeting writing a letter to the CMHT asking them to reconsider as they have turned me down so many times (long story!) but i remember my therapist saying if I was taken on by the CMHT I couldn't see him anymore because they are secondary care and he is primary care, so i just wondered if it was the same for groups, as the therapy and group happen at the same place. I'm guessing it is ok to have both because no one said at the meeting today you couldn't have both a care co-ordinator and do the group, but just thought i would ask.
