General Medical Question - Non Urgent - Chest Pain

Well, I don't know if pain is exactly the correct word... It's just, I've noticed that there's like a dull pain in my chest, like my heart area. I'm not sure why, but it seems like on days where I'm really low, the pain is worse. I can't really go to see a doctor about it right now, as I don't have the money to, but do you think maybe it's like stress related or tied with the depression?

I am wondering if it may be anxiety? Obviously I am not a medical professional and can not diagnose you but if it only comes around when you are feeling low emotionally, I would be more inclined to say that it is emotionally driven. I know that you indicated that you can't go to the doctors but I am wondering depending on where you are in the states if there is a telehealth number that you could consult with? Alternatively is there a free clinic that you could be seen at?

Are there are relaxation techniques the shift the sensation? Is it there all the time or just sometimes?

As well as what has been said above, depression and low mood can lead to people feeling increased amounts of pain to what they usually do, quite often due to tension, so it may be due to that.

Do you have an ED/ any problems with your eating which is maybe worse on those days?

Free clinic: no, unfortunately. Telehealth #: I'm not sure, I'll check it out. And ED: yes, I've been eating healthier though and it still persists. Thank you very much for the answers though(:

EDs of any kind can put strain on the heart. If you're purging then the electrolyt levels change which can be really damaging and really needs to be checked up on straight away if you have chest pain or unexplained pain/ pins & needles radiating down your left arm. Restricting reduces the strength of your heart as it means you have less energy as well as the muscle being broken down to act as a fuel for your body so this makes it weaker and puts strain on it making heart problems much more likely. Also, Overeating EDs also put strain on it in the same way as being overweight in any way can do with the fat around the heart constricting it, the extra weight meaning it has to work harder and the arteries becoming clogged with fat (though this can also happen more with other groups of people too such as those that smoke) and also if you're binging you suddenly eating loads at once does alter a lot of the pressures in your body and also nerve impulses and can affect the heart too so if any of these apply it's a good idea to go and get checked.

Is the pain worse when you breathe in or breathe out? Does anything else make it worse other than your mood? Does it sometimes feel like it's harder for you to breathe properly even whenyou're feeling calm and have not been exercising or anything?

It could be stress related but I would still advise you to go and see a doctor as soon as you can. Some hospitals conduct free heart health campaigns in different neighborhoods and you can probably get yourself tested for free there. See if there’s anything like this conducted by the local hospitals in your area for heart healthy living. I’ve read that fish oil capsules are good for the heart and help you better cope with stress and anxiety. You might want to read up on it before taking it.

I'm closing the thread as it's over four months old now and so the reason for it being started has hopefully been sorted out now.

If you want it reopening, 'canthelpmyself', feel free to PM me and I can sort that out.
