Contains alcohol - some advice please?

for the last few years I have been abusing alcohol. I did go into hospital 2 years ago for a detox but in time drinking became everything.... again.

my normal GP is on maternity leave but I needed to make an apt to be able to get rebates on some of my apts.... I saw her husband which was really weird.

anyway he prescribed me this med to stop the alcohol cravings but I feel confused cuz I dont know him and he was so against me going IP

do I do what I need? or do what will please him?
I am so confused right now, I dont know if I should fill the script or not and yes I have asked my pdoc but she wasnt any help

I am just so confused but the meds may help with the cravings but what about the other side effects of stopping drinking?
I mean they have detox programs for a reason, it can be really dangerous going about it yourself and could even be fatal.

I've only herd detoxing from alcohol being fatal if u drink a half gallon or more a day. Do you? If not id say try the script... if it don't work then go. But that's just me

not sure how much a gallon is but most days I drink up to 700ml of a bottle of vodka...

If you have ever has a seizure or a past concussion and you drink to the point of you own bodies intoxication and or you are on anti anxiety/antidepressants then for safey's sake you need either to taper off reducing the amount you drink gradually each day untill you are at a low amount or you need to be under daily medical supervisioon the easiest way to do this is detox programs, when one of the conditions above are met or you are drinking over 2000 ml beer, 1500ml of wine or 1000 hard spirits then the rik for complications like seizure(with status epilepticus being an even bigger risk............. this is a lasting seizure and it can be fatal), breathing and heart rate abnormalities, withdrawal hallucinations to name a few the risk is quite likely, in patient detox isnt necessary just make sure bthough to get a doctor involved and maybe have him also test you liver function. best of luck take care

I would agree with metal... I drank about as much asyou when I was drinking...or more but if you feel you need inpatient for you to feel better that's fine but imo you don't need it. Coming off tho you'll get shakes n **** if you don't have them already.. and you'll get delerium tremors(hallucinations) like a ****. Its been awhile since I drank like that a few months. And I still get dt's not sure if its from other stuff but.

But just be honest with yourself you know? Therapy.. meetings.. you don't have to go to them, meetings. But at meetings you can't drink so. And .. id hate to sound like them people off the movie 'fight club' but its something to do to occupy yourself even if you don't share. You can listen to others...get a piece of mind. The typical stuff you see when you detox for me anyway is like.. you'll sware you'll see a bird or spider crawl across the room out the corner of your eye.. typically if you look for it after you notice it, its not there.

At that amount, if you're serious about coming off, you need a proper detox. Here in the UK we have 2 options, going into hospital or doing a home detox. Could that be possible for you?

Do what you feel is the best thing to do love. If you go against the psychiatrist then that's your decision to get the help you need and he isn't giving you that right now.
