Chat Noises?

I've been using chat for a while, but in the last couple of days it's started making a noise whenever someone joins the room or posts a public message (the same noise as a whisper)

I haven't clicked any random buttons or anything...it just happened out of the blue.

Does anyone know why this is, and if there is any way to change it?

At the top right, theres a button by the change room one, i think it looks like a cog (sp)..

Click that and options are in there.
