Slipping

I was organizing some papers in one of my binders earlier today and accidentally got a papercut on my finger...and I'm seriously panicking. It was a HUGE trigger...I nearly lost it. I keep having thoughts of all the times I've messed up- and what SIing again could do to my future...what if my parents try to send me to a mental home again...what if I upset a friend and lose another one of them because of my SI...what if someone finds out and tries to get my kids taken away when I eventually get married and become a mother? This is insane...Ive been doing so good with stopping lately...but I think this is going to send me tumbling back down the steps Ive taken to recovery..

Focus on this: you DIDN'T lose it. Something inside you is keeping you from doing it again. Channel that thought, that motivation... and keep it with you always.
The steps you have taken are permanent. No one can take those away from you. You did that.
You are doing a fantastic job, really. You're gonna beat this, I promise you.

I understand where you are coming from with this. If I get a cut from something that is not SI I get triggered.

I think the important thing for you to remember that it is ok for you to slip if you do. What I mean is don't be harsh on yourself for slipping because you are human, we have feelings and we have moments that are sometimes out of our control. It is important that, even if you slip, to step back and think of how far you've recovered and that what you were feeling at the time of the slip was legitimate.

It is more stressful to focus on the fact that you've slipped instead of thinking 'ok, i did slip, nothing I can do now, time for me to move forward.' what happens in the past already happened, we can't control it. It's how we move forward and learn from it that is truly helpful. I know that is how I try to think about it anyway. I hope that helps :-/

You've taken the steps to recovery which is the hardest part. That no one can take away from you. The important thing is to move forward! <3
