I am currently:
getting on my high horse about not SHing...

when I'm still in the same state just without the behaviour? It's been almost 3 years since I've cut myself but sometimes I feel like I've made no real improvement in this time and that I'm exactly the same, I'm just hiding it better.

Anyone know what I mean? Think it really says much when you remove the behaviour but feel/think the same?

I can really relate to this. I haven't cut in a year or so, but I still feel the same as when I did and I still think the same way I did then. =/

I know it sucks.

I suppose we must have changed a little in order to stop the behaviour, we can't be exactly the same and it is good to be safe...but I wish I'd done more in the past few years.

i think, especially on this site, there is a trend to try to stop the reaction to an action.

self harm being the reaction to the action.

around here people seem to think, stopping self harm can solve all your problems, where i have always believed, if i sort the things out that make me want to hurt myself, then the self harming behaviour will tail off & stop eventually.

maybe though, look at things you need to change, this that upset you & attempt to start combatting them?

Yeah I used to have this attitude but my self harm/addictive nature became to dangerous for me to wait. I had to stop or I would have died. my attention is defiantly on the real stuff now though. I think it's harder to measure the emotional/psychological improvements as well and it's good/easy to feel proud if it's been a while since you've SHed and you never thought you'd be able to.
