I was just wondering if anyone else makes conversations up in their minds. I don't know how to describe it really… I call it Mind-Talking, but it's just sort of… visualizing? I figured it was perfectly normal until I mentioned it to this guy I know. He said he did it, but he thought it was a bit of a crazy/abnormal thing. The conversations are normally things I'd never EVER tell actually say to anyone. Occasionally they are chat's I think I'd like to/need to have, but don't have the words or guts for yet.
Any ways… it's just talking to someone in your head - not yourself. Someone you only sort of know - for me I've had four main people: one teacher, one girl who played on the team above me, one person I messaged a lot online, and my counselor. The people are folks I look up to and I end up feeling really attached to them, but it's only because of details and feelings and connections I've made in my head - they kind of become two people in the end, Real-Person and Mind-Person, you know? I don't actually know them at all in real life. They are they type of people you say maybe two words to every couple of days, but you see often enough (excluding my counselor, of course, who I have said a lot to but not very often).
The 'talking' is mostly just me rambling - I suppose it's just Directed-Journalism, really. It helps and is a good thing normally because it turns what is otherwise really self-hating and negative, into words that are more explanatory and allow for a bit more reflection on things since I end up explaining how I feel and why I came to feel it instead of just saying what I feel or think. Sometimes though, it is negative… :(
The talking is really one sided, the person might 'say' things that are basic and simple, but mostly it's just about the presence of the person - I guess the fact that I have someone to talk to and someone who listens (because, of course, they do listen. These mind-people are the perfect, un-judging and comforting listeners. They always comfort just perfectly. And if it gets to a point where a conclusion might be needed or a complex thought from the person, the conversation ends or replays with corrections or back-tracks so it doesn't have to stop.) It's pretty much just a listened-to monologue of thoughts from me.
In the conversations the people can be 'seen' - just me deep in thought though. I never actually loose touch with where I am or what I am doing. - or, if the conversation is shorter, they are merely a vague presence, color and a few indistinct symbols, and feelings.
Writing this all out I feel like it's a kind of stupid question. Doesn't everyone do this? I do it all the time. But… just incase the guy was right I want another opinion. Do you guys Mind Talk?
Silence can be golden but gold can sometimes suffocate
Like that girl in that James Bond film, too late to respirate
Tragedy can be plain to see with lights and sirens
But sometimes it ain't quite so clear, Domestic Silence
~Scroobius Pip
I do that aswell. i dunno waht it is though.. but your not alone :)
the most important things are the hardest things to say...
...And you make revelations that cost you the most, only to have people look at you in a funny way.
not understanding what you've said at all, or why you though it was so important that you almost cried when you were saying it.
I do too, usually when I have things I need to say to people (who, like you, I look up to and admire) but cannot say for fear or embarrassment or other things like that. It helps me to be able to talk it out in my head like that and it sounds like it helps you too, so I think keep it up if it is helping you! It's not abnormal many people 'role play' discussions they need or want to have.
Um yeah. I have these chats with people I was fighting with at one time and how I'd act if I'd seen them when they were mad at me. Don't ask me why or where that idea came from but it's someting I do a lot. It;s kind of like me showing off in front of them as if I don't care that they're mad at me. I don't even know where this came from but I've been doing it a long time, there's two people in particular, an old friend and someone on a forum. I've never told anyone this before. I also have 5 people I made up and I imagine them singing and stuff (cos I love singing), I just, I'm weird.
I do it a lot when I have racing thoughts. A lot of the time on a night. Then again, I'm a writer and have a vivid imagination so I figured it was just that. Sometimes I find it annoying, when I'm trying to sleep.
I have conversations with people I know in my head or replay conversations I've had but imagine us saying different things, if that makes sense. Often I'll imagine I've had a conversation with them and then forget if I've ACTUALLY said that to them or imagined it.
So yeah, you're not alone I think as long as it's not causing you problems or troubling you you're fine.
i do this too, although sometimes later on i have the real conversation with the person.
You called me an angel, there must be a twist,
Have you ever seen an angel with scars on her wrist?
And blood trickling down from a gash on her arm,
Have you ever seen an angel self harm?-Unknown
I do this constantly. I often have funny conversations with people in my head, or making facial expressions while I talk to them. I think it makes me look weird, but I enjoy the conversations.
I do this....Though sometimes I actually speak outloud. I live alone, so I think it in part has to do with lonliness/boredom, but I also have a hard time expressing myself to people, and it's usually all of the stuff I wish I could say or I conversation I wish I could have with someone...
It tends to be when I want to tell someone something and then I imagine how the conversation will go.
