depression

hi. im just posting for a little advice please. ive had depression for a few years now. im on anti d's and i have recently been feeling really better. ive been doing things like my open uni work and stuff, but lately there have been a few stressful things going on and i have gone finding it sooo difficult to get motivated and it is taking me ages to do the smallestr things. its so frustrating because this is so unlike me as i love to be busy usually. sometimes this has happened-ive felt like im getting better then i have a 'dark' few days but can pick myself up. but right now im struggling and it doesnt seem to be passing.
any advice would be much appreciated.
thanks. lol hevs

calling a helpline to talk to someone? what part of the uk are you in?
have you got a psychiatrist/cpn/councellor/anything?

maybe get some friends round and have a night in with them?

i know how you feel, i've had the same issue for 2 weeks...i've tried everything to get myself out and it's still not upping...

Can you try and force yourself to do things? the idea of having friends round is good. Maybe say to yourself once you have done a bit of work you will treat yourself and also perhaps once you can get going again things will pick up. Is there anything in particular to make you :( take one thing at a time and dont expect too much of yourself. feel free to pm if you want to talk about anything xxxx

Hey, I just want to let you know you're not alone. I had periods in my life when even the simpliest tasks, such as going to the store, are a real struggle. I distract myself by reading other peoples problems. Problems that are worse than mine. It helps motivate me and count my blessings at the same time.

Hey honey, I really don't know what to say. I'm on Anti D's too and have been depressed for years. I'm so glad you've been feeling better on the medication. I think it's awesome you have been doing Open Uni! The few stressful things must of kind of put you down a little and set you back a bit.. have you dealt with the things you were finding stressful? Perhaps after you deal with those things then your depression/mood might get a little better?

I find it extremely difficult to get motivated, it takes me hours to do a 10 minute job which apart from sucking its really annoying because people will bully me because of it but its hard to explain to them that its my depression. I had a great few months there and recently hit a massive low with tonight being one of the worst nights. I had a great few days last week or something and wrote a few good threads about it as I felt I was writing too many bad threads.

Maybe give your self a little time, take it easy, set a few small goals for yourself and write them down.. set an alarm and get up when it goes off and try to see how many things you can do on your list :) then cross them out.. do it every day doing a few different things to see what you can & cant do.. also write how your feeling and why. It doesn't have to be a massive paragraph - just a little sentence.

"Goals:
Get up when my alarm goes off
brush my teeth
get dressed
blahblah
hoover the living room

Woke up at 11 AM today.. felt great wakening up had a good sleep..

(later on) done xx, xx, xx, goals and finished them.. feeling tired now.. going to get water. Feel a bit down because someone said xxx to me and it hurt my feelings.."

Something maybe like that. Remember to drink plenty of water as it can wake you up a little and it's great for you to keep you refreshed & energized. Eat some food that is good your you and see if you feel any better.. Try and go a walk and see how you feel by getting out the house and exercising your legs.

Sorry my advice isn't great.. Hope some of it helps though. Let me know how you get on.

Jen xx
