Referral?

Hi, all.

I finally managed to go to my GP last week and talk to him about everything that's been going on for me recently. Anyway he asked me to fill out a depression assessment questionnaire, which I did, and it will be repeated in 6 weeks time.

He also gave me a questionnaire and pre-addressed envelope. I was to fill the questionnaire out and post it.
It was an assessment questionnaire and the envelope was addressed to a service that provides different kinds of therapy.

I did it, posted it and now I'm a little anxious.
What will happen? And how long will it take?

The therapy service will probably contact you at some point with an assessment appointment before offering you therapy.
At least, that's how it worked with referrals at the therapy training college I attended for a while. [as a trainee, but never got as far as seeing clients.]
It might be a while, with the holidays coming up.
You could always check in with your GP to ask more.
