hmmmm ... very interesting question Blue Eyes!
I know that in my experience, pain killer withdrawal leads to alot of flu like symptoms ... ie - runny nose, cough, feeling fatigued, shivers, aches and pains, fever etc ..... but if these sorts of symptoms were due to withdrawl rather than being sick from a flu or something like that, would it have the same sort of effect on your immune system as would a REAL cold or flu ... hmmmm - I dont know.
My intuition tells me that whether its a withdrawl or not, the mere fact that your body is experiencing all these symptoms of ill-health, that your immune system most probably would be compromised in some way or other.
During drug withdrawal, your body is quite run down, weak and left feeling as though its missing something that it needs, and its seems to make sense that when a body is in this weakened state (also weakened possibly from months/years of drug abuse too) that the immune system wouldnt be working as well either.
But I'd definitely be interested in reading the replies to this post, and to see whether anyone has any factual information regarding this matter.
Are you asking this question for any particular reason Blue Eyes?
Are you going through (or planning to go through) withdrawal from pain killers in the immediate future?
