Sometimes doing it for others isn't strong enough unfortunately.
I've done this before, for my friends but i ended up relapsing pretty bad.
I think that in order to stop, you have to want to.
Have you tried any distractions? You could try the RYL arcade, talk to a friend, listen to some music, go for a walk, try to relax etc?
With coping strategies, its all about trial and error. What works for some might not work for others.
I use dancing and drawing as a strategy whereas you may not find that appealing so may prefer to write.
You could make a list in case you need them - of both distractions and strategies.
