sorry to post on here again.

i'm going to see a counciller soon and i just worried wether they tell my parents what I’ve said.
there are some things that i dont want to talk with my parents about, but need to talk to someone, and want to know how much they can tell my parents.

What age are you?

If you are under 16 and think you are a serious risk to yourself then they may have to pass on some information to your parents, or to a higher authority (like a psychiatrist, if your life is in danger etc).

I would ask them about the confidentiality policy before you start talking. They'll be able to explain it much better than I can ;)

I agree with the above, also, my CPN has told me before that the only time she would have to break confidentiality is if she thought i was a danger to myself eg i was going to end my life.

They should read you the confidentiality agreement before you begin counselling. Typically everything is confidential unless they deem you a seriously harm to yourself (if you're suicidal) or you're planning to hurt someone else.

Ask them at your session just to make sure.

When I went when I was younger, the woman told my mum nothing. But they do have to speak up if you're at a risk to your life.

Camhs Are pretty descent, they arent arses but they will try and look out for you even if it doesnt seem it at the time. Some times i wanted to beat my counsellor but they are just trying to protect you from yourself .

As many have said they will contact your parents if you are at risk to yourself or others. But as much as it sucks if you are you need to tell them because they will help you
