I actually bought my first vibrator there. Nothing fancy, just a basic, non-intimidating one that's this really cute purple color. *feels slightly accomplished* The woman at the counter was really nice and cool about everything, and was willing to talk to me about the different options available and suggest what would be best suited for me.
But holy jeeze, the prices on some of those toys....and the *ahem* size of them. Yeah, they scared me alright. I didn't dare go by the video/dvd section. Apparently there were some rather "interesting" ones. I do have to say, I've never seen so many different types of condoms and lubricants in my life. Definitely will have to go back with the boyfriend though....
I have been to an adult novelty store. It was a bit skeevy. Maybe it was because the one I went to was sort of in a dark corner by itself down a long winding road. Actually the parking lot was pretty well-lit, as was the place itself, but I went really late at night and there were no other businesses near it. Only vaguely creepy men worked in the place, but it wasn't an over all creepy environment once inside. It would have been if I had been alone though. I didn't buy anything, and nothing looked like something I would buy. I giggled at a few things, and looked in horror at a dildo type thing was probably the same circumference as my waist, and I'm not skinny.
we used to buy birthday presents from ann summers a lot. plus on our lunch from uni me and my friends would just go for a wander in there. the staff were always lovely and we had a good laugh with them. one of the few places like that which didnt scare or intimidate me as was all just a good laugh.
I quite enjoy going in to adult shops, batting my eyelashes, looking as sweet and innocent as possible, and asking in my cuterest ever voice where the leather whips are. I get I.D'd a lot though. Hehehe.

You should never feel too nervous about going in to shops like that. The people in there are there for the same reason, and the staff have seen it all before, and can be overwhelmingly helpful! :)
I'm 23 and have never been in an adult shop, nor do I really have a desire to...In part because I'd be too shy. I know there are some skeevy ones here, and the only one I would go to is a women-owned/feminist shop. It's not just for women, it's just meant to be more "women friendly..." it's been recommended (lol) to me out of all the shops here.

Call me a prude, but I just think I'd be too uncomfortable. I worry too much about what people think of me (oh social anxiety, I <3 you...) to begin with, so I'd really be through the roof at an adult shop.

out local i guess porn shop sells porn trashy skimpy clothing and "smoking accessories" i have been known to be a bit of a stoner i guess you could say, i get carded everytime i go in there but it got to the point to were the workers were commenting on how often i was there, when i dont go there that much, i went there a few times around christmas with a friend buying her sister and her boyfriend gifts, but thats it! i think the guy might have been flirting with me a little but im not all that crazy when it comes to sex and stuff so i dont think i could date a guy that works with all that kinda stuff all day
