Many questions...Need advice.

I have recently thinking about getting a job, but I have a lot of anxiety about it. I don't handle being around people well and situations like that really make me to the point of almost fainting nervous. My psych has told me not to get a job, but...well...I just thought it was something I could do since summer is here.

Also, I wanted to know what it takes to qualify for social security income in the state of Texas. I'm just wondering because I have Social anxiety disorder and Major depressive disorder. Whatever is major depressive disorder anyway?

Okay, basically, I'm asking for three things.

1. Advice on severe anxiety/nervousness
2. Social Security Income qualifications in the state of Texas.
and
3. What is major depressive disorder?

Ahh!!! So many things on my mind. I really could use some advice here. I'm so sorry to bother anyone. Please forgive me.

Well first off, I would listen to your doctor in this and not attempt to do something that neither of you feel that you could do comfortably. It would most likely add to your already troubled state and could negatively effect your treatment. I wouldn't attempt to go into a situation that you know you can't handle. And when you are feeling brave and are willing to give it a try, again I would talk with your psych before making any commitments.

As for social security in Texas, that I'm not sure of. I'm sure your psych would be able to help you out in that area, and you may qualify for disability as well. Then again, I'm not sure of the legalities of it all in Texas, so you'd have to talk with your psych and he can most likely help you apply for both.

Major depressive disorder is also known as major depression, clinical depression, or unipolar depression. The term unipolar refers to the presence of one pole, or one extreme of mood- depressed mood. This may be compared with bipolar depression which has the two poles of depressed mood and mania.

I've thought about it, but even that just overwhelms me. I feel so stupid and helpless.
