It's been suspected for some time that something on RYL has glitched to prevent new members from joining and I've now also had an email to the moderator inbox with someone who is struggling to create an account. Obviously we need James or Harley to help us out here, but in the meantime may I request two things:
1) Can someone try to create a new account and tell me what (if anything) goes wrong? Randomers are often just doing something silly, but I trust you lot! I'd do it myself but I think I've got four accounts now and I can't face making another one :P
2) If you use any other forums that are even slightly active, please could you post a link here? I'd like to be able to suggest some alternate sites when I get emails complaining of being unable to register. They don't have to be exactly like RYL but obvs still MH-related and not pro-sites!
I have tried to register a new account and the problem seems to be the anti spam feature. The verification image doesn't appear to be working. See the screenshot below. Refreshing the image makes no difference.
Also when I relogged into this account a message said about that I hadn't agreed to the rules popped up. Which I clearly did so over a decade ago.

dawn, am assuming you are on mobile? would probably be good to share what device and browser you are using, and what happens if you right click and hit inspect element on the image. that would be good information jenna could pass on.
nvm it's clearly the image verification link/service being out of date and not working anymore, and i can share the other stuff.
i'll try later on my laptop in a couple of different browsers, just to see if there is any difference and if i can share that info too. jenna if i forget feel free to text or PM me a reminder.
i'm on a slow anti-psych forum but idk if that is the same as being pro given a lot more is allowed to share than is allowed here?

i'm playing with the letters in the image url to see if it contains the verification code as a work around.
the url DOES change every time you reload it or refresh the page, etc..
i've currently tried the first six, last six, and six before the last six. i have to head to work but if anyone else wants to play around with it as well, start with another string of six!

https://clic-uk.org/ is one forum that i know of. However it is not as good as here as a) they tend to ask for your phone number b) if you say you ODed the mods will phone the police and ambulance and c) it's read only mode between 10 pm and 8 am UK time. Although I am registered I don't tend to use for the fact they overreact. That's the one good thing about here as nobody phones for an ambulance/phones the police. I personally wouldn't recommend them.
I am a member of another forum again wouldn't recommend it as they aren't so strict as here/borderline pro, especially when it comes to ed. Certainly content which is banned here (for example mentioning how much someone eats in a day) is allowed there.
I have found that with other mh forums they are either too strict or (borderline) pro ed/sh. That's what I like about here it's got the right balance.

Discord has forums now so The Good Limbo has those within the chat server.
There are a lot of different Discord servers, many for mental health, they all have their own rules etc. but there are many options so people might find something that fits and is helpful for them.
You can also create your own server. If anyone does need any help or advice with discord or finding servers I'll do my best. Or Jenna if you think it might be helpful I can write up a how to so you can email it to people as needed.
I know Discourse is a more modern forum software. Might be a project for someone to look for a list of discourse forums and see if any are mental health related.
There are also Facebook groups etc. though I hear they can be poorly moderated and I know many people don't want something that's linked to their IRL identity.
I do have a bit on at the moment if I'm slow to get back to anyone but I'll help if I can.

It's pro-life, unlike what the name might suggest. It's also a general mental health peer support forum, not just for suicidal people. They've been bumped way down in google results, probably because of their name (so they might end up changing it), and as a result they don't get a lot of new members anymore and the chat room isn't as active as it used to be. But the forum is still pretty active, and chat has its regular patrons
it's like a million chat rooms on one website. so you can join whichever ones you want, and then each one has its own little mini forums like how ryl has but it's chat based instead of a forum.
so like. ryl forums as chat. but that's just one room. so you can pick hundreds of others to join in for almost any interest you want.
for example the ones we are in are:
- a horse one with like six online friends
- one for one of the online games we play
- an anti psych one
and so on.
