I love fun facts so much that I introduced Fun Fact Friday in my workplace which involves me demanding that colleagues tell me fun facts or I won't be their friend
One of my favourites that they produced is that in world war 2, the RAF discovered radar which helped the British troops shoot down German planes at night. They didn't want the Germans to know about the radar discovery so to explain the sudden improvement in night time vision, the government said that carrots help you see in the dark. They ran advertising campaigns and the like to convince the world that it was true and that the British pilots ate lots of them. And so that's how that myth first became popular.
