Respiridone and Mirtazipine

Is anyone else on both mirtazipine and respiridone? The sedative effects were really bad at first but then I upped both doses, and the sedative effect seemed to wear off. But recently it's been really, really bad and I've not been waking up untiil about 2.30pm regardless of what time I go to bed the night before, and I'm really groggy again. Has anyone else had the sedative effect apparently come back after months? I've been on mirtazipine for over a year and respiridone for about 5 months.

How long ago was your dosage changed?

It was upped a few months ago and initially it did stop the sedative effect/grogginess but it seems to have returned. It's all rather odd.

I've never been on Mirtazipine, but I've heard it can cause a lot of grog.

I've been on Risperidone on and off quite a lot over the years, and when I was younger, even a mg would have me on my knees for days. But recently I've been on 6mg a day and felt little in the way of side effects. I think some people just can't tolerate much medication without feeling knocked out.

I would have expected that the side-effects would have worn off after such a long time on the meds - could there be any other reasons you're experiencing such tiredness? E.g. A mild infection can knock you off your feet, or 'winter blues' or SAD which can be at its worst at this time of year. Make sure you're taking the right doses of the meds too, just incase there's been a mistake. Maybe you're anaemic? It's worth checking these things out, just in case.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. Anaemia might be worth checking into actually, I'll make an appointment this week :)

Maybe you can ask your doc to change the times you take your meds? Maybe 1/2 the dose in the morning and 1/2 in the night time...or something like that so you don't feel to groggy in the morning?

I was going to say about the time also. When I was taking clozapine in the hospital we changed the time to evening (around 6pm) I did go to bed quite early but I woke up every morning at 8 and felt a lot better during the day.
