Yeah if they see changes they can change your diagnosis, but yeah if your not happy with the diagnosis you can always get a second opinion. Take care

It sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment *hugs*
I would talk to your Dr or Psych about this more. It is possible to change a diagnosis, especially if new information is found or the previous dx no longer fits.
Bearing in mind that a DX can inform treatment, ask your Psych or Dr to explain what they plan to do to help you going forward from now.

*hugs*

A manic episode would mean that your diagnosis is changed yes and manic depression may have been manifesting beforehand but only showed itself once you didn't take your meds. What does it really matter though, it's the symptoms you are dealing with that are the important thing to tackle and heal from, not the overall label.

Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?

Sometimes it helps to know what "label" it is you have, ultimately, the "label" you have can make your treatment more effective too.

Your diagnosis can be changed, but if you are concerned about this change of diagnosis, I would speak up about it & discuss it with the person who changed the diagnosis.

many disorders have overlapping symptoms, that is why it can be very difficult to diagnose people, also the possibility of dual diagnosis (two/or more disorders at once e.g., substance abuse and a mood disorder - though these are more easy to disiguish than other disorders, the hard part is finding the route problem i.e., did the depression cause the substance abuse or the substance abuse cause the depression. Or did the drugs cause the paranoia or is the drugs used to self medicate pre-existing paranoia)

But the course of a disorder and new symptoms emerging can lead to a change in diagnosis. Often depression can be changed to manic/bipolar. Depression could become Depression with psychotic features to schizoaffective etc etc....

We change, our bodies change, thus a diagnosis can change. This can develop slowly then suddenly etc.

Speak to your dr/psych etc about this and if your treatment will change and information about the diagnosis, educate yourself, learn what can help, and try different things, what helps some doesn't help other, but find what helps you. But also try not to worry too much about the diagnosis. This is more for dr's so they can try to give you treatment which will benifit you the most, be it the type of meds, the type of talking therapy, activities etc.
