When do you feel worse?

Morning or evening? Apparently it's common for people with depression to feel lowest in the morning, but for me it's the evening. I think it's because I reflect on the day too much and get all negative.

Popple 02-05-2009 09:45 PM

Evening/Night because there is less to do and more time to think.

I'm the same as you two. Definatey in the evenings.

Runa 02-05-2009 09:51 PM

Definitely evening/night

Evenings. I get tired and un-easy on a night time. :p

whirlpools 02-05-2009 10:10 PM

night-time for me too. i think it's because of the darkness and loneliness, and i quite often start to get very anxious about the coming of the next day. mornings are usually only worse if i've had an unsettled night/nightmares.

Cryptic. 02-05-2009 10:12 PM

Evenings/night time.

Pomegranate 02-05-2009 10:18 PM

Umm...I would go with evening/night time generally although if I am having a really bad patch then I feel like **** when I first wake up and then it gradually tapers off slightly until the evening/night.

Ami 02-05-2009 10:26 PM

Same as everyone else. I heard tht about the morning thing too but defo night usually after 6pm x

starlight_enigma 02-05-2009 10:33 PM

I heard that it's worse at night/evening.

Due to clinical depression being diagnosed as an imbalance in nuero-transmitters.

Being low in serotonin. Serotonin production is apparently increased with light, and it's opposite (dopamine?) production is increased with little light.

Hence darkness is linked to increased feelings of depression. Apparently that is the main theory of S.A.D.

If this is all crap. I do apologise.

Still, I find nighttimes definitely worst.

Would definitely say evening / night, as well generally. Have more time to reflect on negative things that have happened that day.

ThinkingofRecovery 03-05-2009 10:13 AM

I wake up feeling crap and sick and dreading having to get through another day. However, it lifts a little during the day only to come back with a vengeance at night when I am contemplating knowing that there is another day to get through tomorrow.

from the afternoon until i go to sleep.

crazykat 03-05-2009 01:53 PM

Generally evenings are the worst for me

Cautiousoptimism 03-05-2009 03:38 PM

Definately evening. I'm more run-down and there's nothing to distract me, so I just dwell on things.

Mrs Sam 03-05-2009 05:29 PM

evenings usually, however if i'm in a real bad patch then mornings and evenings are the worst

Shadowsaurus 03-05-2009 06:37 PM

Evenings.
Sometimes the mornings when I am having a really tough time I just think "why the hell have I even woken up" and it all goes worse from there xx

PointeShoes-x 03-05-2009 10:43 PM

I'd say both. I feel bad in the morning and evenings, but better in the middle of the day. I usually feel depressed and tired in the morning, and I quite often feel suicidal at night. But I'm OK in the day.
