Going Abroad
I'm about to start my 3rd year of university, and I'm going to Spain for it.
Everyone else who is going abroad is excited and looking forward to it. But I'm sat here in tears at the thought of it. I'm scared, not really looking forward to it, there is a tiny part of me that is. I don't want to leave family, and friends... and my boyfriend. He means the world to me. I love him so much. i just don't know how I'll cope and I know the depression will come back. Maybe that's what I'm scared of most. Is going back to that... that thing, that hole... I'm scared and I think I'm the only one. |
Every one gets scared. If it gets to be too much, is there any reason that you won't be able to go home?
*hugs you* |
Well, yes you'd be leaving a lot behind, but you'd be gaining a great opportunity to live and study in a different culture, and gain experience like you wouldn't in your home country. I'd say it's good that you are not looking forward to it actually, because it will make the experience much more of a pleasant surprise for you. Of course it is not the same as being there with them, but there are so many ways to keep in contact with those back at home, besides, flights to and from Spain are very affordable so you can expect visits. I'm sure the sun and the people there will help blow those blues away; it's the thing I miss most about Spain, they certainly know how to enjoy life!

During the summer of my junior year of college I studied abroad in South America. I was very excited but terrified before going. I cried a lot the week before I left. I don't know what I was scared of. I was also in a long term relationship at the time. I had an amazing time abroad. I have to say looking back now studying abroad really helped to shape who I am today. It opened my eyes to so much and has really helped me appreciate what I have.
I know it is scary at first...but once you settle in you will love it. Just remember to keep an open mind. Also, I found that internet cafes turned out to be a god send. It was the cheapest way to communicate with my loved ones in the States. Good luck! Love, Starla |
