aworrying about a friend *possibe si triggers*
 

. . . . one of my friends recently got a boyfriend, they put up photos with each others names written across their chests in eyeliner. The idea doesn't really bother me except that I know with my friend that if anything goes wrong or there is a fight or anything where the name is written in eyeliner it will be written in cuts. He has done this before as I know he already has two names of past people who have hurt him carved into his chest. Its really worries me because I want to be able to protect him and stop him getting hurt and hurting himself but I know I cant, all I managed to say was be careful please.

I don't know, I worry and the fact that I know I am jealous of his boyfriend doesn't exactly help the situation either. I'm not sure what I am looking for I guess I just needed to get it out somewhere.

To be honest i don't think there is anything else you can possibly do, as ultimately it's his decision to do what he does to cope, even though there are better, safer alternatives.
If things start to go sour between them too, then you could ask him why he feels the need to do it, what does it bring, and then see if you both can work out ways in how you can deal with the urges.
Maybe tell him about this website, about how he can use it to gain help or as a distraction if he ever gets the urges?
It's a tricky situation, but the best thing you can do is to be there for him and make him sure that he knows that you are there for him, and that you care.
