Social Services Assessment: Tommorow
My cmht 'worker' (if you can call someone who doesn't see me a worker that is) told me they have arranged a social services assessment (they call it a section 47 nhs asssement) for tommorow with a mental health social worker and an OT from physical services. I was wondering if anyone had any advice; I am very very very worried about it. My flat is a mess; like me at the moment; it's freezing cold (no heating) and I am massively struggling mentally.
Part of my MH is total conflict with regard to being helped. It's okay for the others who live in my body when I am not being helped (though not for me); but this assessment isn't okay for me or the others and it's really hurting me. My housing worker wants me mentioning the fact I'm spending increasing time sleeping on the street due to the disruption my MH is causing others in the building; but I know they won't believe me. They just don't; it's me. Anyway, anyone had an assessment like this? What happened? I'm also really worried about cost of things as I can't afford to hand over my benefits as I need them for other things like taxis to buy food and medical stuff not on prescription. Can I be made to hand over my benefits? |
I have no idea, but hope it goes well and you get the support you need.

I've never had an assessment like this so I really don't have any useful advice, but just wanted to say good luck. I hope that it has gone okay today, and that something useful and helpful happens as a result of it.

I hope it goes well xx

It was really hard. Firstly I couldn't cope so I wasn't there; I lost control and they spoke to one of the other people who live in here. The one who laughs and jokes and chats to people. Second they decided my needs can't be that bad because "I" seemed fine. Third they complained about rotting food in my kitchen and my flat being a mess.
I rang and spoke to my worker; but he doesn't have a clue about anything. It was humiliating and upsetting for *me*; others found it great. They won't help. |
Hey becca,
its hard because they have a legal requirement to carry out assessment like this. It is not a reflection on you when they pick up on the food or the tidiness of the flat it is used for motioning. Some people are clean freaks and some people like disorganized environments i'm the latter. Its hard with the CMHT i'm only offering advice from a social care perspective. Try not to worry xxx |
I'm not very tidy; but it is awful at the moment. Mind everything is since cmht stopped supporting me. Thank-you for replying.
