If I told my doc....

.....that I am seriously contemplating suicide, will they put me in hospital?

effervescence 27-04-2011 08:16 AM

Quite possibly. Especially if you have a plan. Do you want to go to hospital?

tifflehan 27-04-2011 08:20 AM

No hospital is the last thing I need.

Amaryllis 27-04-2011 08:46 AM

Probably, for legal reasons. However, if you're able to make a contract with your doctor that you will not until such a date, then perhaps no. Also, your doctor would have to believe you.

Hospital is not all bad and can be helpful.

tifflehan 27-04-2011 08:48 AM

I don't think my daughter would be able to handle it and I've put her through/am putting her through enough.

Amaryllis 27-04-2011 09:11 AM

I think your daughter would be worse off if you didn't get the help you needed and killed yourself.

I tried to get an appointment but none left today. Have to call again tomorrow at 8 to try again. I feel stupid, like seeking attention.

~Grace~ 27-04-2011 11:18 AM

Well done for trying to get an appointment for today...Just wondering, do they do keep some appointments by for emergencies? It may be worth a try hun....youre not attention seeking, this is serious and you need help with it....hope you either get an emergency appt for today or you manage to get one tomorrow ...hugs xx

It doesn't have to be hospital. I was asked many times if they thought I needed it and managed to talk myself out of it. I told them everything.

There is a good chance that if they feel you are stable enough they will refer you to the crisis team who will risk assess you and see you th rough the hardest part.

They will not force you into hospital unless you are an immediate danger to yourself or others.

Xx

Sorry to hear you're feeling low. I don't know if your dr would send you to hospital or not but you should defo speak to him and be honest with him. It's not attention seeking to seek the help that you need. I hope it all works out ok for you.

Please take care of yourself.

tifflehan 27-04-2011 06:27 PM

Thanks guys. You make it all feel so much better. Gonna call first thing in the morning.

tifflehan 28-04-2011 09:11 AM

Well, tried for an appointment and none left for today either. Only one doc working cos of holidays and stuff. Great.

Jefferson.Meriwether 28-04-2011 09:30 AM

I'm really sorry to hear that. How you feeling today? Hope you're feeling better. (((Hugs)))

tifflehan 28-04-2011 10:59 AM

Thinkin of you Tiff and sending lots of snuggles! If you feel up to it, you could try the chat here.

3nicky1 28-04-2011 08:37 PM

if you can't get an appointment and you don't feel safe could you go to A&E?

Laura2.0 28-04-2011 11:41 PM

when you were asking for an appointment did you mention why you want an appointment?
Maybe they'll 'squeeze' you in somewhere.

*hugs*

Jefferson.Meriwether 29-04-2011 03:34 PM

Hey Tiff, hows things going today? Have you managed to get a dr's appointment yet? Hope things aren't too bad for you ((Hugs))

Pomegranate 29-04-2011 04:45 PM

Sorry things are bad Tiff. Could you call your local crisis team and get some support from them? They could either admit you or more likely offer you support until you can get an appointment with your GP next week.

Sefka 29-04-2011 08:24 PM

Ah, Tiff, I'm sorry you're feeling bad. What's going on with the doctor now? Maybe like Laura said, if you tell them why you're called, they'll find a slot for you.
Keep trying
xx
