psych ward

Kk I've landed myself in a pysch ward and now am so triggered I can't sleep, I have got to sh somehow, I'm goin nuts!

finding.my.wings 05-03-2011 07:50 AM

Please do SH, talk to the nurses there they can help you.. sleep wise and distraction why. You are there i guessing because you are a unsafe and either you or someone else is very worried about your safety. please dont hurt yourself, it really only defeats the purpose of being there.

lonely_hope 05-03-2011 03:34 PM

Would talking to someone about it help? They may be able to find a way to reduce the triggers. I'm sorry it's been so rough... just please don't hurt yourself...

x-dying-inside-x 05-03-2011 03:51 PM

Please try and speak to staff they are there to help and support you!

Horizon 05-03-2011 03:59 PM

You really need to speak to the staff, they are there to help you with urges. In the long run, talking about your urges instead of acting on them will be a much better option, so it's best to practice that now by speaking to someone about how you feel.

Or if you're in a psych ward that have less than helpful staff ( the majority) Can you call a friend or family memeber to talk ? Or do soemthing to take your mind off it, drawing or read, watch tv Hang in there, SIing in hosp isn't gonna get you out of there any faster x

BGonya1001 07-03-2011 10:11 AM

Talk to someone in the ward because if you SI you will be there longer

rustedchains 07-03-2011 11:43 AM

Talk to the staff. Don't SI while you're there, it won't be fun if they discover it!

can't be that horrible if you get internet.

musicmad123 22-03-2011 12:20 AM

I don't think many actually allow you to use the internet to be honest, and if they do, most of the sites you'd want to use will be blocked. Mabye OP slipped in an internet phone or something?

Gabbiesaurus 23-03-2011 01:27 AM

They don't allow internet. I've been many, many times.

musicmad123 24-03-2011 01:09 AM

Actually, one i was in did have a computer with internet for the patients, but anything you'd want to look at facebook etc. was blocked and i never got on it anyway cause this guy was just on it all the time. Anyway hope OP is feeling better and out of hospital!

Two weeks ago I came out of a psych ward after 4 weeks in there and I wasn't allowed my laptop let alone internet access.

Umm, that sounds pretty stupid to me. A lot of things can be horrible, internet doesn't mean they aren't. Sure internet would help make it more bearable but it wouldn't make up for the environment, lack of freedom etc etc.

Mrs Sam 29-03-2011 11:20 AM

When i was in hospital i used the internet on my phone. Was pretty slow but got me through a boring day.

To the OP I hope you managed to stay safe and talk to the professionals who were there to help you.

I'm sure that it isn't helpful for anyone concerned to be doubting someone else's judgement when you have no solid proof of anything.
Innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around, IMO.

leviathan666, I can't add anything more helpful than what anyone else has said but I hope you've talked to somebody. I imagine that psych wards can be very difficult and lonely places but the more you engage, the more you'll get recovery-wise from it.

Keep fighting. You'll get through this.

sherlock holmes 29-03-2011 12:56 PM

Veering off topic, but, some psych wards do allow phones and internet and laptops because I have been in them and done just that. And a psych ward that allows internet access is no less horrible than any others. The worst ward I've been on allowed me to use my laptop. So just because someone can access the net doesnt mean they're lying.

OP, I hope you talked to the nurses. That's what they are there for and it's much better to talk than to cut.
