How to ask my mam?
 

I have a hospital appointment Monday, for nerve conduction tests to see whether I have carpal tunnel syndrome. My mam is coming as the test is not at my local hospital so she has to drive me.
The problem is, i slipped up recently and for the first time ever have scars on my arm. How do I ask her to wait outside while I have the tests done? She would normally come in with me. I dont want her to find out as its my birthday Tuesday then christmas, and i dont want to upset the family.

Maybe you could ask her to go get you something while the test is being done? Like as you're in the waiting room, say something along the lines of "I'm sorry, but I'm totally starving - if I were to pay for it, could you maybe run and get me something to eat somewhere while this is being done so I can eat while we wait for the results?" I know it seems kind of mean to lie to her like that, but often parents get really insulted or upset if you ask them to wait in the lobby, so you have to phrase it as asking them a legitimate favor sometimes. That's how it works with my mother anyway.
