Urges

I was just wondering if its normal to always think about SH. cause i actually cant seem to stop thinking about it, especially every time i see a pair of scissors, i cant help but looking at the blades.

And also sometimes if i manage to fight one big urge, then it just comes back later on in the day and this time i cant fight it. And if i manage to fight it a second time then i will just get another urge even later.

and sometimes the whole day i sort of have an urge to just do it, not like a 15 minute one, but a small continuous one. I was just wondering if it was normal?

I dont know i'm such a loser, i dont know whats wrong with me.
I'm really trying to stop, but i cant manage more then one day without it.

*cuddles* You aren't a loser.
I feel like that alot too. Like i can't look at anything sharp without thinking about how i could use it to hurt myself. Or it's just playing on the back of my mind all day. Urges that stick around despite how much i distract myself...

I know fighting the urges & even just stopping thinking about it are tough - but you will get over it.
Stay strong :)

I'm not sure about 'normal' but I'm pretty much the same, hun. <3

I'm not going to say it's 'normal', as such, but I think it is common for self-harmers. It's become a big part of your life, and sometimes it's a 'natural' reaction to look at things like that and think about hurting yourself.

The urges do get less strong over time - and remember that even if that urge comes back later and you can't fight it, you did fight it before; and again, over time the length of time you can fight for can become longer, and the longer you can hold off from doing it, the better. Have you ever tried to '15 minute' technique to try and help with that? You try to distract yourself just for 15 minutes from hurting yourself (or if you feel you can manage that, try for a bit longer), and then when you're reached that time, try for another 15 minutes, etc.

It honestly does get easier in time. xx
