Newsletter/Roundup.

Hi,

Ive been in chat and we were talking about how to bridge the gap between forums and chat and also the problem of members of chat not knowing whats happening in chat/important forum things because they dont go on the forums. (The scardey cats!)

So I am thinking of maybe doing a monthly roundup of up and coming events in chat and important notices for people who frequent chat/ want to get involved in chat things.

Does this sound like a good idea?Is it something people would be interested in and would it be helpful to people?

Feedback is always awesome,thanks.
x

I am new and not yet really involved in neither the Forum nor the Chat, but this sounds pretty good to me.

Aphelion 08-08-2012 08:13 PM

That's a very good idea, Liv :) I certainly don't go on forums as much as I used to so it would be nice to see what's going on out there in the void..

Stellata 08-08-2012 08:19 PM

Sounds a great idea. :)

be careful not to give yourself too much work darling. you're back at uni soon, and you'll need to prioritise that over this.

griddlebone 08-08-2012 10:17 PM

I wasnt necessarily thinking it would always be me doing it!

squirrelspit 08-08-2012 10:19 PM

ok good. :)

do you think it could maybe be discussed to be added as part of the ezine or do you think it would be more widely read if left seperate?

griddlebone 08-08-2012 10:22 PM

i think it would be better seperate, I can see it getting lost and a lot of chat dont read the ezine and cant imagine they would want to sift through the ezine for it, although I did think about that!

Im thinking just an announcement on maybe this board, or a post that can be edited or something.x

sajhfuahuefghaeg 08-08-2012 10:40 PM

Yeah, maybe under the link to "enter chat" or something? Could link to a thread somewhere.

talaiporia 09-08-2012 11:49 AM

Can you edit the enter chat page? http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum/chat.php

griddlebone 09-08-2012 12:13 PM

I cant no. I will brainstorm ideas with the rest of the chat mods about where to put it. I just want to know if its something people would like/use :P

random.swirls 10-08-2012 12:11 AM

I was going to say it would be good in the ezine but i do see your point

griddlebone 10-08-2012 12:16 AM

Just to clarify....this is just to find out whether its something people will use/would find helpful, I dont know where we would put it and its something we would work out in the future if it came to anything.

I think this is a good idea, I'm on a chat room that holds regular webchats about certain topics, I suppose one idea would be to organise a webchat every so often, a little bit like the mixer room, but have a set topic to be discussed or whatever? :)
(I'm really sorry if this makes no sense, it's nearly 4am! :P)

Alliethulhu 10-08-2012 05:14 AM

I think it's a good idea, Liv, but yeah question is where to post it so chat regulars read it. I mean i know I don't really read forums much, and can imaging a lot of other users of chat probably don't either. As tiff suggested, it would be nice if something could go up on the enter chat page, but sucks you have no way of making that happen, as it would be the ideal place for it. is there any way to link it in the welcome message when users first log into chat?

griddlebone 10-08-2012 11:23 AM

As ive said, I will think about where to put it if it gets the green light.

FabulousMike 10-08-2012 11:27 AM

I quite like this idea!

Pointless post over.

Snow White. 10-08-2012 11:40 AM

Maybe have it on the main site or forum or something but send a mass PM out?

griddlebone 10-08-2012 01:48 PM

Obviously people arent reading my posts pr just ignoring what im saying :p

Snow White. 10-08-2012 02:04 PM

Ah, sorry. I wad reading the thread sporadically and didn't put that together. i didn't think it would hurt to have suggestions.

The reason I suggested a mass PM is because the notification of a new message will appear just above the chat log in page. It could then direct chat regulars to content stored on the main site/forum in the monthly newsletter.

Also with s mass PM is because it would be difficult to isolate the only chat users, but also the newsletter sounds like a really great idea to bridge the gap between forums too, like those that don't venture out of vets or serious. There's a lot on at times and its easy to miss. This could be a great way to get more people include :)
