Does anyone else find this...confusing? I'm 24, so I feel like I'm at a really weird place as far as style and fashion go. I feel too young to be wearing suits and stuff like that (plus my job doesn't require it), but my mom keeps pushing me to get them. (WTF? She tells me I need to start dressing like a "big girl" - how patronizing!) I don't dress particularly "young" or trendy either, I just like to stand out a little bit...
I also never dressed well for the past 5 years at college b/c I was in fine arts and got dirty every day, so even wearing a day dress is weird to me at times.
Ew. Suits!
I'm 39 and have to say I've never worn a suit in my life!
Urban hippy and dressing up dark trousers/skirts with a nice top when need be is enough for me.
dress how YOU want to...
Obviously some outfits are more appropriate in certain situations than others but as long as you feel comfortable in what your wearing what does it matter?
:)
i dont know if i have a particular style or if i dress age appropriate....the only thing i have began staying away from is pink purely because it makes me look younger than i am and i already look like a 12 year old.

Suits are just one way of dressing nicely. But I think of them for corporate jobs really. As for being a big girl in a suit, they aren't necessary and may even set you apart in a bad way. They may make you look older than you are, and stuffy or something.
As long as you meet the dress code for work, I don't see any problem.
I'm in a total rut myself. But it is a rut that suits me.
Wear what you want.
My husband is my best friend.
In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.
I usually wear tshirts and jeans. However, there are certain occasions (like a job interview for example) in which you have to dress formal if you want to make a good impression. It is ok to dress however you want and not care about what others think of you, but remember that you live in a society and sometimes, when you want something out of that society, you have to play the society's game. If I was interviewing you for a job and you showed up in skintight leather pants and a Megadeth tanktop, I'd give you the job without a second thought, but I guess someone else wouldn't see you as very professional
Im 38 now and i can honestly say that wearing a lycra all-in-one body suit is a sure fire way to keep em guessing! When im feeling adventurous i like to wear a leopard skin print and if i have to look smart i go for the pinstripe! For those lazy summer afternoons i usually just throw a sarong around myself and put on a headscarf!
Its age-less and class-less and a real head turner! Just watch out for the odd un-invited camel toe!
See Im 18 and I wear kids clothers fairly often. Mainly coats and stuff because my sister's grown out of them and they fit me. Recycling is my excuse!
However wear what you're comfortable. One thing I love about being at uni is that you aren't judged by what you wear. Maybe look in shops such as next which are a bit more inbetweeny.
Yep, I'm 22 and work in social services. I find it difficult to dress my age without feeling very thoroughly un-me-like... so I embrace the quirky and dress unabashedly like an elementary school art teacher. You know the look- peasant skirts, scarves, ribbons, sweaters with big, odd buttons. Casual-professional is my mother, not me. I have plants and Hiroshige prints in my cube, so maybe it works?
And for days when I'm not feeling quite so... bright... I have basic black pants and comfy knit sweaters.
shh. i'm counting between the lightning and the thunder to see if the storm is coming or going.
I'm 29...I wear suits occasionally for work or when I use to fly alot (upgrade!!) but usually its trousers & jumper/shirt for work & jeans & top (of varying descriptions) out of work
But thinking about it 'my style' has pretty much been that way since I was about 23, I prefered the way I dressed when I was younger than that but it was never 'trendy' more 'crazy/weird' & I had to grow up... which makesme a little sad, even now...
You'll find a style eventually & until then ignore what people like your mum says - wear whats appropriate for the activity as it were...
I'm a real fashion chameleon. One day i'm in my fave hippie skirt, the next i dress like a scene kid. I wear colours. Lots of colours. Bright colours. Is there a dress code for the adult world????? If that's the case i'll take this opportunity to say "screw it!!!"
I'm 24 in August. I just wear what I find comfortable and what suits my figure. I don't really follow fashion unless I actually LIKE what's fashionable (rarely).
I must be growing up though... when I was a teenager I shopped at Miss Selfridge, Topshop, cheap high street rip off fashionable shops...
These days I buy most of my clothes from Next and Peacocks!
LOL i shop in peacocks and ethel austins too! i dont shop for myself in next, but have bought things for freyja there. i used to love jane norman but i dont have the money for their stuff anymore.
