Went to the doctors today

Hi everyone.
I went to the doctors again today after being discharged from therapy. Again they tried to tell me there is nothing they can do but this time I just sat there. i wernt gunna leave untill he agreed to refer me on somewhere else. So he started asking where my depression and anxiety come from, he was saying I had to pinpoint one event in my life that caused it, I was like are youn trying to be funny?? I have had many things go on in my life, that have all contributed, so he then said therapy wouldn't work then as they wouldn't be able to put the event into context. So i guess that means any of us who have had many different events accumulate and cause depression and/or anxiety can never be helped???? Then he was saying how it would have to come from me, i was like yer I know and I have been working at it for 3 years, 3 years ago i couldn't even go out of my house, now i am going to unbi in september, but I cannot get past the point that
i have got to. Anyway this went on for a while, then he said how even if he did refer me, they were very unlikely to take me on anyway, so there is no point in giving me faulse hope. To which i said but I'm not expecting to get seen (which if I don't i will be going to my MP) but if I don't get refered there is absoluty no hope of ever getting any help.
Anyhow evetually after about 15 minutes of arguing his point with me, he realised that I aint going anywhere untill he agrees to refer me. So I hope I have been refered, but to check, next week I will make another appointment with a doctor and confirm that I have most definatly been referd on.
I guess standing my ground worked .
Now lets hope they can be bothered to actually help me!!
Hugs

different types of therapy work in different ways too. sometimes if so called talking therapy doesn't help, congnitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help you deal with you issues in a more positive way, ie help you recover, and i know some people say that this gets them to the point where talking therapy can help or where they feel they don't need therapy anymore.

maybe ask what type of therapies are available in your area. at the mo our area doesn't even have a counsellor/therapist/psychologist about. matt was seeing the old one, but she got moved and wasn't replaced. the only place our surgery can refer you is to a medication/psychiatrist. silly eh?
