This was part of a post in the general boards related to the 'Spam' threads.... Longing Tears made a very good suggestion

RR. Well, I'm inclined to the positiveness of having a forum set aside specifically for sexuality support and discussion. [inc. 'straight' and GBLT].Within clear guidelines. It just makes it safer and clearer for all concerned. I feel. Just my feelings. Maybe as a sub-forum of GSA. Yes, I know we have lots of forums. But still.

Although I am a straight male, I think it would defiantly add something to the site if a new board was created along the lines of "Sexuality discussion" or something similar. The board could then be used for peoples questions, discussions e.t.c and the Rainbow room could be moved there. Before anyone says 'The Rainbow room serves the purpose of sexuality discussion fine', I'll point out that the RR is too large a thread and people who have specific worries or questions might feel daunted by such a huge thread. If I wanted a question answered, I'd rather have my own thread than post in one of the large/spam threads.
Hmmm, for the sake of relevance, I'll post this as a poll in the Community forum
Yes, I'm straight (I think so anyway..) but I think tghat sometimes people can feel a bit lost and alone about their sexuality so it would be useful for people to seek advice and talk to other people who are having the same difficulties.
I do agree that the Rainbow Room is too big for those questions, but I don't think another board is the solution.
I think it's probably easier if people posted those threads in GS&A forum, or if it's due to past abuse (even if not) they could try in the A&B forum. I just think RYL has enough boards already - people say it's becoming very segregated, and having yet another place isn't going to help.
But that's just my opinion. *shrug*
For those doubts that swirl all around us
For those lives that tear at the seams
We know… we’re not what we’ve seen
For this dance we’ll move with each other
There ain’t no other step than one foot
Right in front of the other
There are alot of forums already, but i think it might be nice.
It's a toughy to handle your sexuality sometimes, and yeah, the RR is basically just spam now so pretty intimidating to anyone who isn't already a 'regular'.
Although I still think it should be kept open.
I would find a board like that useful and I think a lot of members would. I get the feeling the subject is a bit homeless. I know we have a lot of boards already but this does seem kind of a common subject around here, and I think a special board would do well for it.
i think a specific board would be a good idea!
because sexuality can be such a sensitive issue for many people i think that it would make people feel a lot safer and less intimidated to talk openly about it, and say exactly what it is they need to say!
so yes, :)

I dont think another board would work.RYL has already greatly expanded sincev2.i feel that there are not enough posts to justify a board just for sexuality
I though GSA was for general support which would included sexuality?
No; I don't see anything wrong with GSA and a lot of people feel that we have too many boards already.
yesyesyes.
it really is not needed.
mostly cos i know if it ever did get opened, it'll be pratically dead.
or ppl will start reading it questioning their sexuality when it doesn't really need questioning.
I dunno, it might help, i coulda done with support whne i was going through the stages f transition to accpeting that iw as bi, but i dunno, is GSA equipped to cope with that? Or could we perhaps have a label for it? Like Sexuality question? or summat
In my opinion another bored for sexual content is not needed. The way I see it, the only time that sex really needs to be talked about or addressed is when
A) Someone has been sexually abused and needs support for it, which in this cause would fall under the forum "Abuse and Bullying" or "Grief and Trama" as long as this is labed sexual abuse trigger.
B) If you need support on sexual health questions in which you can ask on the "First Aid" forum as long as you lable it "sexual health".
C) If you need advice about your relationship involving the sexual health of said relationship, this would fall under "General Support and Advice" or "Veterans Support" as long as this too is labled "Adult".
In my opinion, the forum has more enough catagories as it is, I think adding another, as others have said, could create a bit more segregation.
I also wanted to add, as I read a thread in general about our younger members reading the more sexually oriented threads, I feel that IF these forums were to come about, that it would needed to essentially 'block' those younger members from seeing these forums until they became a more mature age, such as 13 year olds reading about how someone is having problems in their sexual relationship, and others are giving them tips like "wear more revealing clothing" this could look very inappropriate to the childs caregiver if they were to come on the site and see this.
That is my take on the situation.

"Even if hard work and determination doesn't pay off immediatly, it will ALWAYS pay off EVENTUALLY"
i think a label will only be good for people's peace of mind.
to me, those labels dont mean a thing.
maybe it's cos i dont get triggered. but i mean, if i saw a thread that had like "TRIGGER, GRAPHIC" on it, i mean, i'm way more likely to click it.
otherwise than that, i don't see how it'll make a difference.
if the subject name is clear [ie. "confused about my sexuality" etc] then i don't see how having a label is going to have any impact/significance.
^ on the label idea if we did that, maybe the title could be in a different color? or have a different symbol? Instead of just "sexuality question". It would keep a new board from forming, but still give the subject something distinguishing. A little bit of independence from the "general" support & advice board.
